Ah, I want even thinking in terms of parking at home. I was thinking more along the lines of something to put up on the sport bar when I'm out and about and need to park. I figure that might get around the problem of the birds getting accustomed to it being in the same place at least.
20’x20’ tarps are cheap at Ace Hardware, cover when at home. Tuck the corners in the gap between tires and fenders. Use a cheap landscaping level drain pipe to make a tent so it doesn’t puddle.
Done well it keeps water out even during tropical depression 8” plus rain events.
Ask me how I know.

Yes, this is a serious question.

Has anyone used an owl decoy or similar to prevent birds from befouling your interior when you're parked with the top off?

If anything I figure it might be a nice alternative to the ducks.
The only thing that works for us in the backyard was a hawk kite on a stick. It was expensive, but nothing else seemed to work.

Owl decoys were quickly ignored because they don’t move. I hung 2 Owl boxes in trees and soon had quite a crop of Owls eliminating the ground squirrels that ate my 4R’s ~$5K wire loom ? . I now have Owl pellets and sh!t ? ?
This started out so promising ?‍♂I have attack squirrels I need to deal with. Not sure if the owl shit is worth it ?. Decoys don’t work.

Google Bird B Gone and buy one of those or something similar. You need something with movement. Stringing a very fine line such as fishing line also seems to keep them away. Both techniques work on boats vs seagulls and other birds…

Fortunately, insurance covered the wire loom replacement minus deductible. Your’s ? I was using poison that thinned them out, but one F-up and my dog got into it and the vet couldn’t save him :crying: . Bird shit washes off.

I’ve been lucky they haven’t attacked my Jeep. Thankfully it’s only my wife and dog. A couple of times they jumped out of the trees and scared the hell out of her. I’ve tried the owl decoys but no luck. I keep my top off alot during the summer so it would be a lot of washing.

I made a PCV pipe “T” placed upside down so only rodents could get to the poison. Stupidly left the bait out while repairing it.
A high powered pellet gun quietly works for tree squirrels but not nearly as easily.

A few years back, we had a Wren problem in our culdesac. They would sit on the door and peck at the mirrors. So, I made a flat plywood cutout of a redtail hawk. My wife painted it using some bird reference books. I hung it in a tree with fishing line and later mounted it on a stick and stuck that in a bush. Seemed to help. They didn't return the next spring.

I've seen some vineyards using reflective strips like mylar that blow around with the wind, causing sunlight to flash off of it. Also buildings use reflective mirrors that rotate and seen to keep birds away.

Id imagine you could try taking some mylar strips and attaching them to a dowel, maybe even clip them to the antenna and see if that helps.

Found this tape on Amazon, wonder if that would help applied to the top of the sport bar.
