Morning,

I’m not entirely new to Jeeps as I have a 21’ Mojave but I am the Wrangler. I reserved a Bronco for my wife back in July 2020 and we’re both just about done with that ? show. Punk’n came back and I’ve got her excited about a Wrangler, FINALLY! But wow prices have gone up significantly! Side note, I am aware of and have used Gupton and have my Bronco order through Granger.

I have pretty good knowledge on most of the packages and read through the order guide which I couldn’t find the Willy’s? Anyways my wife in her words, “I don’t want some bitch ass tiny tire Wrangler.”

So with that said…

What would you recommend for a 5’ girl that absolutely will not rock climb and wants a 4 door. Maybe I would rock climb? I honestly can’t say right now. She wants a 2” lift and 35’s like my truck.

Rubicon with some packages:

How does it drive on a stock suspension with that lift/tire? Squirrelly? It would be a DD.

Feels like overkill but the gearing is where this model has value.

Willy’s?

She likes the Willy’s but I told her that she would need to regear the vehicle if she wanted 35’s.

Plus it’s almost as expensive as a Rubicon which I don’t get.

Are there other upgrades here I’m not aware of?

Something else?

Is it even worth buying a lower model and trying to build an entirely new suspension so the gears to get the 35’s? Feels like it’s almost a wash.

Thanks in advance.

Punk'n is back? Not seeing it on the Jeep site as a color option.

Yeah better jump on Punk'n if the other two new colors are a gauge will not last long.

I would go Rubicon myself if in the budget. Just better package to me and resale is always great but all Wranglers are generally.

Got a Willys XR a few months ago. 35 inch tires and 456 gears from the factory. Stickered for 47,600. Me and the wife both love it.

Yeah, budget is the problem. There’s her budget and my budget lol. I make double what she makes but she doesn’t like the idea that she can’t afford the car payment on her own salary which is admirable. We pay for everything together except for our cars. Because she’s always insisted on cheaper cars while I want fancy ones. I might have to just crunch some numbers and order it without her permission. She’s fighting me on the cost and I told her to look at other models and now she’s frustrated with me.

Wow. It isn’t that cheap anymore lol. Plus isn’t the XR not able to order?

Get a Sport and put a 2" lift and wheels/tires on it. You'll likely be in her budget range and end up with what she wants after the upgrades.

Issue is just the gearing at that point. 35’s on 3.45? That sounds miserable.

2023 Would be 48,400 to order currently. Hopefully as soon as they can get some supply built back up the XR will become available again.

Are you talking about the Willy’s sport?

These new Jeep/engines/stock gears are more than capable at handling 35’s - stick to C rated. 35’s are the new 33’s. So if tire size is your main concern, don’t stress on which model you should choose.

With that said, if you want a Jeep you’re not looking to throw a ton of money at over time, get a rubi since they are already loaded, buy once cry once as they say. Sahara will have smoother springs/shocks. Base sport, you’re looking at starting from scratch basically, which can be a fun and possibly less expensive way for lifting. If it’s just going to be on pavement and occasional dirt or sandy road, no need to go crazy with the lift.

I've got one now setup like that. It's perfectly fine for around town, but you do lose 8th on the interstate. I'll eventually regear it when it's out of warranty, but it's fine for now.
