I absolutely positively do not want the e torque but when building a JLUR with a auto it forces you to choose the e torque. Can a dealer possibly help? I did notice when building a Gladiator that it doesn't force the e torque on you.

If you want a V6 auto in a wrangler you’re getting etorque. Why don’t you like it? I wish mine had it. You get more torque smoother acceleration, and the auto stop works so much better because of the bsg.

Same thing happened to me and the wife a few weeks ago in Colorado. Junk system, unnecessarily complicates the Jeep.
I agree about unnecessary complication, but the problem is that without eTorque, you still have ESS, and it's pretty unanimous throughout the JL world that the eTorque V6 is hands down better than the just-ESS V6. More power and far better reliability.

I too wish that they'd just leave it alone and skip all this e-assist crap...even the AFM system on my Tahoe is a nightmare - I had it tuned out because around the 100k mark the collapsible lifters tend to sieze and drop valves. That's an expensive problem, and conveniently out of warranty, of course...all to save 0.25-0.5mpg. Can't wait to find out what catastrophic problems ESS and eTorque will cause once these JLs start getting into the 100k mile range.

Was considering trading off and getting a new Rubicon 3.6 auto, but NO WAY because they are forcing you to order etorque now. Why do I want an extra electrical system (48v) with cooling lines running to it and a big old battery hanging down below? NOT worth it if you plan on keeping outside the warranty period. Maybe good for drivability and on a lease vehicle you turn in before it becomes a problem on your $$.

Just order one with a manual, they are more fun to drive anyway.
As long as the clutch doesn't blow up I agree. My '04 Rubi is a manual and love that one.

Really don't like the way they "force" certain combinations in the build.....I tried to build my Sahara, and to get the same Jeep I bought in '18 it forces me to get etorque/auto 3.6 l to get the cold weather package (on Sahara). Can get non etorque without cold weather though......

Those are both 2.0 Wranglers. You asked about the 3.6 Etorque. That system has been in the Ram for quite a while, and I have sold several with no complaints. I've had a few customers bitch about it when they first bought it, and then loved it after having it for a while. It's also used in the Hemi Rams. We order as many of those as we can get. It's funny cause I'll tell customers the truck just shut off at the stop light, and most don't even notice it. The stop and starting are almost seamless on the Etorque engines. The 2.0 engine is junk in my opinion. Noisy, high idle, check engine lights. I see 2.0's coming for service way more than the V6 with or without Etorque.

That is an exceedingly rare occurrence, since corrected, and easily addressed with aftermarket parts if you are really concerned, I never consider the clutch blowing up as an issue.

So while I don't have much experience with an ETorque long term I can say it is more than likely a better system than the Standard ESS with mismatched batteries.

My ECU has had me locked out of ESS for almost a whole year now due to "battery charging" Both batteries test as "good" but I'm willing to bet one of them is less "good" than the other and its freaking the computer out. Having two batteries of different types on the same circuit seems to be a less than ideal design.

I'd be willing to bet I wouldn't have this issue with the ETorque.

There something to be said about keeping things simple - naturally aspirated V6 in this platform!

Yes but ESS can be EASILY defeated if you want it really simple....

I NEVER use it.
