Love the way your Jeep turned out. That green color is perfect for a Jeep. The stance and tire size is just right.

What tailgate hinge reinforcement and spare tire carrier are you using? Having that 40" spare tire that far away from the tailgate is going to put some serious torque on things. Maybe the tire support that slips in the receiver hitch will help mitigate that.

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I finally got the spare tire and compressor mounted. The compressor mounts inside the spare tire. I also had them install a Torrix Air Up System (Link) that puts an air coupler at all four corners so I just have four short hoses that go from the couplers to the valve stems. There are rubber covers for the couplers that are still on order. It is the brush-less ARB Twin. I haven't had a chance to use it yet. The spare tire is just on the tailgate right now but they are making a Torrix Hitch Spare Tire Support (LINK). They had to custom make it because it's a little taller to be able to use the stock bumper. This will hold up all the weight of the tire and has a skid plate on it to protect the spare when dropping off ledges.

I think it turned out well. The only thing left to do on it are the Chromoly front axle shafts which are still being made. They will probably be in next week, at least I'm hoping.

Wife doesn't go into the old shop because of a couple black snakes on guard duty...win/win. Everyone needs 40's 😁

The chance of her being pissed is going to be epic, need knuckles, truss kit, ball joints and build some wheels.
And ill research.

Your jeep looks great!!!!

The support should take all the weight off the tailgate in theory. When I get it I'll get some pictures and see how much it hold up.

Thanks everyone for the compliments! I love the way it turned out!

Naive question, but does that 40x12.5R17 stay on the rims when off roading or taking a corner? That is a huge amount of sidewall for such a narrow tire. I didn't even know they made 12.5" wide 40s.

So far I haven't had any problems. I haven't noticed any "squish" going around corners but at the same time I haven't had to do any sharp maneuvers. Right now I'm running them at 30 psi, although that may be a little high. I haven't decided yet.

I haven't done any off-road in them as I just got the spare put on and didn't want to go without one but by the time they get 10-12 psi in them off-road they should do pretty well. I guess time will tell.

I finally got my Torrix Atlas Spare Tire Support. As you close the tailgate the tire hits the flat area on top and lifts up the tire which supports it. It takes all the weight off the tailgate and puts it on the hitch. I highly recommend it if you have a bigger spare. LINK
