One of the annoying babysitting devices on my '21 JL is that it won't let me move the Jeep when my door is open. Yes, I know it's a safety thing, but sometimes I need to see what my mirrors don't show me, or I can't see through the door panel.

What do you guys do to let you open the door and still drive or backup? Putting my foot on the switch isn't an option, I'm not that flexible!

Is there an override? Can you hack the switch by removing it and jumping the wires so it's "always closed"? Surely, there is a solution that you guys have for this!

Many threads on this subject but have you tried this?

If you don’t want to hook up the seatbelt behind you, just ride the brake a little with your left foot. Like just enough to trigger your brake lights. You can go at least 10-12 mph with door open that way without auto park kicking in, but as soon as you release that brake pressure, it will. That’s how I back up with door open, two foot driving.

You can undo the wiring harness to the doors when off road, use a seatbelt extender as stated above, or get a Tazer Mini to disable and make many other electronic changes to the vehicle.

Disconnecting the harness will disable the power windows if you have them. So there's that.

I got a Tazer Mini for other reasons and was happily surprised when I saw that I can disable the auto-park function.

I have ordered the seat belt extender, I didn't know that was part of the system.

I have a Tazer Lite, but it's cheaper to get seat belt extenders than upgrading the Tazer!

The seat belt extender works great for the door open thing, as well as for driving without seatbelts fastened, such as slowly on dirt roads, safely. Of course, I don’t recommend driving w/o belts. ✌🏼 happy new year everyone!

I know Tazer offered this function in 2018, then discontinued it in 2019. I wrote them in 2020 and was told, “I’m sorry, we no longer offer that feature.” More recently I was told that this function had been restored. Is that correct?

I believe it's under the live settings as APKill. You'll have to keep it plugged in full time for it to work.

Yep, I was surprised to find it there. I also got rid of the horrible 3 honks when the fob leave the vehicle, which was another nice surprise.

No honks, no dings, no unbuckling the seatbelt. Who would have thought a Jeep owner might not want those nannies ?

That function must be trim-dependent.

I'll just here a mild pinging tone, and only after I reenter the running Jeep, prompting me to press the OK button on the steering wheel to extinguish the "Fob away from vehicle" warning message on the center TFT screen.
