OOPS...I forgot to turn off the traction control

We had a mess at our fire company event and I was shuttling the girls between the firehouse and their particular posts. I was wondering why my 392 was bogging down in the sloppy stuff, and after several trips back and forth, realized that the traction control was still activated

I did that bombing around in sand. The engine was pulling down as if I were climbing a hill and I was barely moving. It was a facepalm heard around the world….

It's counter intuitive, you would think traction control would help in these circumstances. It was a teaching moment for me on the sand as well.

No sir. Nobody drives in 4 low when they’re out exercising their giddy up on the dunes. That would be sillier than letting ATC bog ya down!

Right you are. I was thinking atc shut off in four wheel high as well. I am more of a rock crawler and haven't experienced that.

Joking aside, I’m certain ALL of us have done this.

Made that mistake when I was volunteering at an event, right after I bought the Jeep. Going up a dirt road that didn't require 4wd, but bogged horribly and I'm in a manual, so I couldn't just spin the tires.

Opened up the owners manual again after that.

Honestly, halfway through, across the track, it was as though the engine was not running. It took me way too long to realize what I had done. Definitely embarrassed yesterday.
