So I have an oil leak on my oil separator. I noticed the oil leak within a few months of owning the vehicle (bought used from dealer, had about 4000 miles on it when I purchased in 2019). I took it to the dealer a few years ago and they said there was no oil leak. Well fast forward today (and out of factory warranty) and my oil leak has slowly gotten worse. Now I'm losing about 2.5qts for every 8000 miles driven. I had it diagnosed by an independent shop and they said that the oil separator was leaking. I understand this is an issue that people are starting to see more often with this turbo engine. Anyway they quoted me $1300 to replace since the whole intake, throttle, hoses, etc. needs to come off. Is $1300 a reasonable price?

I don’t have the manual but since I don’t have my 2.0 anymore I can only relate with the 3.6 that remains. (No issues, just had to sell). The oil cooler replacement on the 3.6 is pretty extensive but can be done relatively easily. I’d imagine it’s as much of a multi step process.

Look up Alldata. It’ll have the manual and for $20 you can have access for 30 days.

I'm not going to do this myself. I have the service manual and it is a lot of effort. I don't have time to deal with this so I will pay someone to do it. The part is like $50 but they said like 5-6hrs labor. The oil cooler does come out when going after the oil separator if I recall.
