I was messing around with some new intercooler pipes from AFE and noticed some oil in the factory inlet intercooler pipe. I doubt my turbo seal is going bad already so I'm leaning towards to PCV system being the culprit. Anyone know if adding an oil catch can or if rerouting the lines could keep oil out of places I don't want it?

A catch can should solve that issue. I had to install one on my supercharged bike as oil blow by from crankcase pressure would feed back into the air induct system. Talking with the mechanics at work: that is the nature of boosted applications.

There will always be oil in the piping. Think about this 100k rpm of the turbine wheel spinning and the compressor wheel sucking in it will no matter what vacuum oil inside ! New engine or old engine. As mentioned above. A PCV oil separator will solve this problem I have it on my Supra as far as the Jeep diesels. If you are really analytical I would remove the intercooler and piling once a year or so and degrease /wash and re install. This is an exaggeration. But I do it on my 2jzgte because I care a lot and all the $$$$ that went into building it ! My 2 cents lol

I have a catch can on my Dodge cummins, the intercooler piping on that truck is pretty clean. They make catch cans for the older ecodiesels but as far as I know no one can keep the computer happy and CELs come up installing that setup on these engines. That is why I figured I would ask the gurus here for opinions. The intercooler cleaning option might be the only way to go, maybe every 100k miles?(I have 58k on it at the moment)

I'm ordering the Mishimoto catch can for my 3.6 next month. They are not cheap but appear to be well-designed and a quality item.

Then, I’ll checkout their website and determine where to install the one I have. Thanks!
