Hey Everyone,

We've had out JLURD for about 5 years now. It's not driven much. I maintain the oil and filter as recommended. (Typically less than 1,000 miles per year, so oil and filter changed annually.)

In the past I have purchased the Mopar oil filter through Amazon. I was going to order this morning.

Sticker shock... from the same vendor as last year is $74. I thought it was high last year at <$50.

I see lots of other options available. Just wondering how much of a risk I'm taking going with something other than Mopar.

Appreciate any input.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hey Folks,

Thanks for all your input.

I ended up ordering the Mopar filter from Amazon. It was the 5th one that I bought from them since first getting the Jeep. I haven't had any issues in the past. It's a big difference just for peace of mind; but, that's what I decided after spending a couple of hours reading reviews and looking at options. Hard to factor out the good and the bad in people post online in reviews.

I appreciate all the help.

Jeff

I have a '21 JLURD. I was surprised by your post so I looked the Wix part up on my O'Reilly Commercial account. Yikes....

Took apart an OEM Mopar vs a Microgard Select
2020+ OEM Mopar Ecodiesel Oil Filter vs MicroGard Select MSL10614 (Not what I expected)

The gist? The Microgard Select seemed better in every way. Without serious testing I don't think that claim could be made except anecdotally, but I'd put money on it for sure. And at about half the price of OEM...it's a no brainer.

And FYI PGI = Microgard Select = Carquest premium. PGI is where you go for filter quality currently. The oil filter market has been in a shambles for the last bunch of years and PGI has been the guys 'doing it right'.

I don't claim that the Microgard select for the ecodiesel is getting the better 20 micron at 99% efficiency. But I do trust these guys to come through with quality.

I’ve been using docs diesel filters and getting results from uoa that leads me to believe that there are working. I did have one filter come apart on me during an oil change that caused me to inspect carefully with each new one.

I haven’t had any issues with the Ecoguard ones I previously posted (knock on wood) and I change these out 2-3 times a year for both Jeeps.

I have had issues with non-mopar fuel filters however and now only by the mopar ones.

Bought couple Wix filters for my Jeep and other cars at local parts store. Turns out the one for our Corolla was made in China, never seen Wix made in China until now, returned it.
