Made a few weeks ago, the "well-known" modification to the engine oil pan O-ring on the 2.2 Diesel.
Due to the oil change deadline (which I do every 10,000 kilometers), I had the rubber O-ring replaced (which was already showing the first known symptoms but wasn't yet giving off the low pressure warning light) and replaced it with an aluminum O-ring with a push-fit.
This early modification, which isn't particularly important given the mileage I have (made at 81,640 kilometers), I hope has prevented any engine failures due to this defect.
As for performance, at least on mine, it has improved and the car feels more responsive (or at least as responsive as when it had fewer miles on the clock), in addition to having improved engine oil pressure.
Now I have 1.8 bar at idle (warm car at rest), 2.1 and 2.2 bar when cold, and 4 bar even during light acceleration.
