Okay trying to remove the evidence of the oil spilled on my asphalt driveway last autumn on what was then freshly seal coated. Wife keeps bringing it up since she wasn’t crazy about me spending money on a seal coat. Some of you know the blunder that caused the oil spot but it’s not important that I embarrass myself here.

Tried some Simple Green and a stiff push broom today and that was marginally effective. Was just recommended this product…

Has anyone tried it or have other suggestions for clean up without destroying the seal coat?

May be too late but I was told to use kitty litter for oil spills. I spilled a bunch of t-case fluid a few months ago and did the kitty litter/simple green combo. Plus with the sun it's mostly faded away by now.

Yep, the cheapest standard clay kitty litter, pour it on about 1" deep and let it sit, then in couple weeks sweep it up and toss in garbage bag so that it doesn't end up stuck to inside of garbage can.

It's also helps in my case I have a shitty driveway that needs to be re-done at some point. Sucks to spill on a brand new driveway. :(

Yep, been there...can act as filler for the driveway. And money saved on driveway is more Jeep parts lol. :)

One thing that I learned a long time ago is to put down the floor dry/kitty litter and let it soak up the spill for a while. Then before sweeping it up, use a piece of 2x4 or even your old worn out shoe bottom you're wearing and scrub it in. It gets down in to the floor surface and can erase the stain pretty good.

Ask the seal coat company to come out and do a spot repair. That oil stain has now become part of the seal coat/asphalt, both of which are refined out of crude oil.

This is kind of what I am thinking. There are a couple of thin/missing spots and maybe I can get them to do a low cost touch up. Would sure like to give it a go myself if someone has the magic elixir.

You could try contacting the makers of this stuff: PIG® Microbial Oil Stain Remover to see if it is safe to use on your driveway. Page says the intended use is for asphalt and concrete surfaces.
