Does anyone have a good source for OEM style black Torx bolts? Or, does anyone know what kind of finish the OEM fasteners have? Black phosphate, black oxide, black stainless? Oiled or waxed?
There are plenty of places to get black fasteners on the ol' Interwebs. But I'm not sure about their corrosion resistance and strength (grade) compared to stock. I'd also prefer to get them with the easy start (unthreaded) tip if possible. I've tried using black fasteners from my local hardware store, but they rust quickly. I'm also looking for an assortment of sizes (diameter and length), thread pitch, etc.
Edit: I'm also aware of the many online MOPAR parts retailers where you can get the actual OEM fasteners. (See the first response to this thread if that interests you.) But they list hardware by part number and application. (i.e. "chair mounting bolt", or "trim screw"). I'm looking for hardware sold by its dimension (i.e., M12x1.5 x 30, or 1/4-20 x 1.5") Unless someone already has a catalog that correlates the standard dimensions to part number of every fastener FCA makes.
I know it's a minor detail, and I usually favor function over form. But with aftermarket parts from various manufacturers, you end up with a myriad of gold zinc, silver zinc, nickel and/or stainless steel fasteners. And rusty fasteners drive me nuts. No pun intended.
I searched the forums for similar topics, but didn't find anything. If I missed it, please point me in that direction.
