TLDR; If you're having issues with the door/s not being recognized as open, i.e. dome lights won't come on, auto unlocks don't work, door ajar light doesn't come on, etc, try reconnecting the wiring harness with the door/s closed.
Long story;
A few weeks back I took the doors off on my 21 JLU for the first time. Spent the day bumming around and put them back on. Everything was fine up until a week ago. I started getting warning messages on the dash (Auto park disabled, Auto start/stop unavailable - service auto start/stop.) About the same time I noticed that when I opened the drivers door the radio wasn't shutting off like normal, the auto unlocks stopped working, and I wasn't getting the door ajar light on the dash, but the power windows and locks still worked fine. All the other doors worked fine too. Thought there was a bad connection with the wiring harness. Took it off and inspected the pins. They were fine, none bent or recessed. I disconnected/reconnected more times than I can count. Inspected the wires for damage, none there. Even disconnected both batteries to force a restart of the uconnect. Nothing worked. I drove it for a few miles with the wiring harness disconnected and didn't get any of the above mentioned warning lights so I knew the problem was related to the door connection or sensor somehow. Thought for sure there was a problem elsewhere so I made an appointment with the dealer.
In the end I thought "lets try reconnecting it with the door closed." Drove it for a few miles disconnected, shut the vehicle off, reconnected the wiring harness (without ever opening the door,) started the jeep back up and everything works fine again. Been a few days now and no more issues. Time will tell if this solution holds, but it seems to be.
