After six weeks of patiently waiting, I just picked up my 2-door Sport and am enjoying the engine break-in period. However, there is a noticeable revving noise coming from the engine compartment while running at idle or slow speeds (<10 mph) with the A/C off. There is no increase in engine rpm when this occurs, so I can only guess that this might be a cooling fan switching on? Interestingly, our Grand Cherokee has the same engine, but never made that noise, so just curious what it is, and if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

The Radiator Cooling Fan can sound like a plane trying to take off, at times. If you keep the A/C off of the max setting, it usually won't kick in.

Thanks...and yes, it did sound like a plane taking off! The A/C wasn't even on, which is why I thought it was a little odd. Granted, it was a hot day, but I've never heard this sound from our 2016 Grand Cherokee with the Pentastar.

For some reason, we, the owners of the JL Wranglers are the lucky ones. There is a TSB on this, and yours might be able to be reflashed, to lessen the times the fan kicks in. It helped mine, and it only does this high revving about 1/5 the amount it use to.

Thanks, and appreciate the info on the TSB. Luckily, this noise doesn't occur often, so it's probably been flashed appropriately. Just got my attention because it is so noticeable and doesn't occur on our other Pentastar.
