How's it going everyone, former Jeep owner getting back into a Jeep after a long number of years without. I recently picked up a 2018 JLU Sport S and I absolutely love driving it. My last Wrangler was a 99 Wrangler Sahara 2dr. The 8 speed automatic transmission is one of the BEST changes every put into a Jeep IMO. I live in the Dallas area and traffic is terrible but this transmission makes driving so enjoyable. Maybe it's just me but this newer engine feels like it has more get up and go than the old 4.0L I-6 engines. Don't me wrong, those engines were bomb proof in the long run but always felt sluggish.

Anyway I have some ideas for my build, along with a number of questions. Is there a specific section that's best for starting a thread and getting questions on a variety of topics answered?

Greg. The "F" in FNG may imply that you're annoying. You're not. We were all FNGs at one point. FNGs that incorporate questions with their own research aren't FNGs. Still more you're not an FNG to ask questions about where to find things in a forum you're not yet acquainted with regardless if whether your questions are original or previously addressed by others.

There's more. Click on the above link with the arrows. The search feature, (the magnifying glass in the upper right hand corner) is your friend, and many of us don't mind repeated questions. At this point in the forum's and JL product's maturity, many discussions are.

Chris:

I'm nobody but me. Proof (I think) lies in my inability to find this member. Maybe his posts have been archived or erased.

It is strange that @Ranheld totally disappeared. Interesting coincidence I guess.

The FNG thing was meant more as a joke, but I appreciate the kind words. I'm on some of the largest auto forums in America and I know how annoying it can be when a new guy comes along and asks questions that's covered in easy to find posts. I've been reading the forums over the past week and wasn't sure how strict things are in regards to keeping topics in the appropriate section. And since I have questions on topics that will overlap other topics, I figured I'd ask if there was an appropriate place to ask a bunch of questions on a build.

Tip: Google search is better than the forum’s built-in search. Look for your answer before starting a new post. Not found? Post away!

Welcome and congrats.

Let me get this right. A self-proclaimed newbie to dash cameras and JLs comes to the forum, all but admitting that he doesn't even know what he doesn't know, and rather than give him the typical:

.."buy the XYZ camera man, I've got it and it's f_ing awesome!!," answer that is more about validating the recommender's selection than considering that what serves one person's need may not serve another's...

…I provide the features to consider and a starting point website

...all on a post nobody forces you to read, especially if you know this stuff,

..and this bothers you,

..but after another post remains unanswered for days here I provide steps to DIY a solution https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/rear-cargo-tub-locking-panel.45883/ and only then you chime in with the "rocket science" of you don't need to lock the tub because the tailgate locks?

What if the OP on this post or others interested wanted to go topless...something that wasn't known at the time?

...and did I reply to you on this post like a douche: no.

...bottom line: I'll live with you not being the sharpest knife in the drawer (at least here with stupid advice, as well as users and links that don't exist) because I'm not forced to read or reply, just like I ask of you.

Do respond back with some meme if you lack the words yourself. Better, say this post too long, and with the attention span of a flee, you flame but can't handle the solid rebuttal.

Let me guess, you're the kind first to complain that he's not treated well when he asks newcomer ignorance (not stupidity) questions, as well as the first to complain when others show such individuals kindness and consideration.

A FNG matters in war, from where the term originated. They're most likely in their ignorance to get themselves or their platoon killed...not in forums.
