(non) off-road shaming - why?

Anyway the truth is this, Don't concern yourself with what others think of what you do with your Jeep. People will always think something about what you do isn't good enough or hardcore enough. One of the greatest things you can teach yourself is to let it go, walk away, and don't let it ruin your happiness.

Right on Rick!! I test road both a KTM 1260 and Ducati adventure when shopping for a adventure bike. That Ducati was insanely fast!! I now am settled into my Yamaha Super Tenere and Beta 500RS.

Honestly, if you bought a JL and don't need the traction/suspension capabilities.... then I really question your vehicle choices as there are significantly better vehicles at significantly better prices.

I'm sure it won't be a popular opinion, but the modern JL is horrible compared to every other modern vehicle I've driven. It literally has one decent use case and that's being off the pavement.

I certainly don't want to shame or make anyone feel bad about their choices, so I'll likely just keep my mouth shut (who really cares about my opinion on the internet anyhow). If it's in a public forum I will point out the impracticalness in hopes of raising awareness, but not to hurt anyone's feelings.

Don't even get me started on the dealer/service network!

Beautiful bike, it's hard to do for sure. I traded in my Kawasaki ZX-14 a while back, I really miss that straightaway speed and the thrill of the twisties!

No problem on my end. I can care less what others are doing to their Jeeps or any other vehicle. Hell I'm the odd man out who is waiting this crazy market out. I'm not being the smart consumer who is paying 10K dealer markup over MSRP for a new vehicle.

To me, “Pimp” suggests your disapproval beyond just your opinion since ”pimping“ is actually an illegal activity and conjures up all sorts of negative connotations. Words matter. Are you really suggesting that only those involved in the sexual exploitation of others drive Jeeps with these wheels? Or perhaps someone of only a specific ethnicity or social class would put them on their $50k JL?

I have zero problem with you not liking the rims(and questioning their offroad chops as you do in the thread). But “pimp”? Seems to me to be exactly what the topic of this thread is about. Why bother? You don’t like them. Perfectly fine to say that. “Looks too gaudy to me”… again, fine. “I don’t like the color”. “The wheels are too heavy for off-roading” …. Perfectly fine. ”faux beadlocks don’t interest me.” 100% valid. “Pimp”? Why?

What I find interesting about this is that of all the 4WD and AWD vehicles that I have had, and there have been many, my wranglers are by far the worst in the snow.

Me too. The crazy thing is we now have 4 of them! There is just something comforting about being behind the wheel of a jeep. We have other cars too, mainly performance vehicles, but the Jeep’s get driven the most. Go figure!

Because in the 90's I built quite a few Pimp Mobile Limousines for Atlanta Pimps. Those rims reminded me of those flashy limos with mismatched colored Spinner wheels and a mirror on top of the TV for laying out blow. Nuff' said

Only if you don't know how to drive or ride. Every single vehicle from motorcycles to 18 wheeler highboy loaded with smoothbore tanks half full handle the twisty black ice and snow no issue. It's all in the throttle, braking, and steering.

Modding is fun.
Driving a Jeep in snow, rain, storms, mud, sand is fun.
top on top off no matter what, fun.
to Home Depot, to grocery store, deep into the woods, over rocks, dirt and curbs - all fun.
talking to otherJeep owners out in the woods on a trail or in front of Taco Bell at the mall - fun.
Picking up my kids and their friends after soccer/ football and hear some kid say from the back seat “cool Jeep”. Bonus fun.
getting a smile from a pretty girl who likes my Jeep. Extra bonus fun.
