I bought the Next Venture front and rear diff skids last year and they've been setting in the garage. I have some down time and tried to fit the rear diff skid. Seems like it interferes with the pinion flange seal guard. The front clamp that goes over the snout of the diff housing comes in contact with the sheetmetal cup that protects the seal. Some people used to call this part the "slinger". Since this part rotates, it's a no-go, until I grind enough off the clamp. Not sure why this was made so close.

Anyone have this problem?

Now you’ve got me curious. If you don’t get an answer in the next couple of hours, I’ll take some pics of mine on a 23 JLUR. When I ordered they mentioned they had redesigned their skids several times

@GMONEY just installed his yesterday and said he had no issue. Maybe reach out to him and ask if his were the same design as yours.

Yeah, mine has sat in the garage since sometime in the latter half of last year. I ordered in July, but it seems like they took a month or two to send it.

Here's the clamp. On the inside, you can see where the seal guard has rubbed on it in two places. This mostly just from fumbling around with it during the installation. But that is the general area of interference, just not as much.

Just so I’m clear. The spots circled in red. If not I need new glasses

Ok definitely not touching…but maybe only an 1/8 inch of clearance. Sorry my pics look like Mr Magoo took them. I had trouble getting a good angle with my phone. Let me know if you want to see something from a different angle

Also probably not relevant, but on the factory diff covers Next Venture has a spacer bracket to go between the skid mounting surface and the diff cover. I’m wondering if without the spacer bracket the skid would be moved far enough forward that the clamping bracket could interfere with the dust cup.

If not, Next Venture might be able to help you out if they’ve modified that clamping bracket over time and you don’t want to clearance it yourself.

Good point about the cover thickness and spacers.

My cover is a Motometal with a 3/8" thick flange.

When I looked at the NV website, they mention that their cover also has a 3/8" thick flange.

I installed mine yesterday. I have the stock covers still so used the spacer. I didn't notice any rubbing and it all went together pretty quickly. I did both front and rear in about an hour. I can get under it tomorrow (just got back from the trails so it's hot) and take a look.

I know that they have a list of aftermarket covers they say don't fit and if I'm not mistaken only say for sure it will fit with the stock cover and spacer or their aftermarket.

I installed one on my '20 JLR 3.6 two or three years ago and had zero interference issues but was a tight fit! I took it off when I installed 4.88's and chromoly axle shafts and has been sitting in garage since...Going to see if it fits the new '24 JLR-X with full floating rear axle.

Where did you end up on this? It appears you have several other projects going right now, but I’m just curious.
