Hi all. picked up my 2023 Sahara today and took it to the desert (taking it very easy on the engine).

It was impossible to move the transfer case to 4H position, someone helped me get it done after then moved the car between R and D a few times then back to N. It makes a very loud noise when it makes the switch? should i be concerned and take it to the dealership?

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that doesn't sound right and you should get it checked out. Mine makes a click when going between 4H, 4L etc. but not that loud at all. Hope you can figure it out!

Shifting the transfer case for new Jeep's is pretty stiff at first. The more it's shifted from 2Hi to 4Hi, the easier it will become.

Secondly, to properly shift in and out of 4Low the Jeep should be going 2-3 mph. The reason why there's a loud sound in your video is your Jeep was not moving. There's nothing wrong with your transfer case or linkage, your shifting technique is wrong.

Go someplace off road, with limited traction, and try shifting into 4Low while moving at a very slow speed. Also shift in/out of 4Hi several times and this will loosen up the linkage to where it will shift easily.

thanks, with my limited knowledge I thought I cant be going wrong doing it at a stand still. I will try in motion as you/owners manual indicated.

Should work much better. As you found out, it can be shifted into 4Low while being at a stop, it's very hard though.

Nope, won’t hurt anything. It might be difficult to get into 4L, but it can be done without causing any issues or damage.

Thanks. I was messing with mine the other day and just switching in between and it made all kinds of clunks and was hoping I didn’t break anything lol.
