Evening,
Quick question as a soon to be on Saturday a new Jeep owner. Ordered a 22 2 door 6spd Willys. I have bought 2new cars and 2 trucks in my life. But never went with extended warranty. To those who have purchased a new jeep recently, have you gotten the extended warranty? I know there is different tiers to the ex warranty. Was just curious as I am picking my Jeep up Saturday. Build went super fast!!!

Congrats. In a nutshell, do not (I repeat, do not) buy an extended warranty from your dealer. Follow the advice in this recent thread. You don’t need to do anything immediately. If you so choose (I did), buy a Mopar MaxCare warranty from Tom Winkels or another recommended source.

Absolutely. Tom is the man. I bought a MaxCare warranty through him for my son’s Grand Cherokee, and then my Wrangler. You can tailor your warranty up to 8 years (5 on top of your initial 3 years from Jeep) and different mileage tiers (and deductible). The longer you wait within your 3/36 warranty to order the extended warranty, the cost does go up to some degree.

I picked up my 8 year/60k mile warranty from Tom for under $1k ($100 deductible). A far cry from the BS $3k-$4k extended warranties the dealers try to peddle (which usually aren’t the legit Mopar MaxCare anyway).

6cly pentistar, 6spd. Did the cold weather package. Willys came with android auto. Tan interior, Hardtop, Sarge Green. Standard gearing that came with Willys.

A warranty is only as good as the servicing dealer. Your dealer can either fix everything under warranty, or give you nothing but grief every time you pull in.

I’d find out first how you like your dealer’s service dept. If you do, then shop around for extended warranties.

In my case, every Jeep dealer in a 60-mile radius is absolute crap. Buying an extended warranty would only prolong the agony of dealing with these SOBs. So I didn’t bother.

I must add, my Sahara has proved trouble-free so far. Knock on wood.
