Hi my Nerf bar/sidesteps are rusting need to send off the rust prime and paint them. Question best paint and primer to stop the rust and prevent future rust? Any other pointers would be great I live in the midwest so I'm in the rust belt. Thank you jeep on

Thanks I did that with
That’s certainly the least expensive way to go. An option would be to have them powder coated-nice but $$
What about a flat black paint over a primer? I'm just looking for one that's good and will help with rust. Truck bed coating with something I was looking at after that first or second year to make sure it's solid but I have had issues with a chipping off before and not holding up in the heat or sun

Rattle can Rustoleum in flat black will certainly work. $10 vs $150-200 I’d think. That said, the powder coat should both work a lot better and work a lot better. If you’re bouncing them off rocks regularly I’d paint-if not I’d powder coat. Son has powder coated on his Gladiator, runs the beach and forest service roads and they look like new.

I used truck bed liner on the last Jeep I had cracked off didn't look good in a bubbled. Great concept though maybe I did something wrong this time I'm just looking to paint thinking about a flat black maybe a Rust-Oleum and I would have to find a decent primer. Anybody has any comments or advice thank you

Flat black Tremclad. Few coats. Save the can, you'll see it again.
