I'm looking to replace the OEM antenna with a shorter black one. I've been looking through Amazon and found a lot but they all have reviews about bad/worthless reception. Anyone have any luck with them and would you share which antenna you have?

I have this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Compatible-2...mized-Reception/dp/B07BDFQDVJ?ref_=ast_sto_dp

Seems to work OK for AM/FM. I mostly listen to SiriusXM or stream over bluetooth. Most, if not all, of the short/stubby antennas will be worse for reception than the stock antenna.

Thanks for the replies. Ordering one now. @Deke, I agree on the stock antenna, that's why i'm already looking for a replacement and my Jeep is still being built.

I bought and installed one of these and it's tough to tell if I'm having an issue with the antenna or the radio itself. I'm having a constant issue with the volume constantly coming and going at a given volume level. There's days where I have my radio maxed out and I barely hear it and days where I have the radio 1/3rd of the way up and hear it just fine. Only happens with the radio so I can only assume it's a signal issue. Didn't notice this with my stock antenna.

Are you sure the volume isn't being affected by the Speed Adjusted/Sensitive Volume setting? Not sure what radio you have, but it's an option on the 7 and 8 inch radios. Not sure if the 5 inch has it.

Antennae's need to be a particular length to properly capture the wave length of the incoming signal. Shortys will never do a great job. That said, I have a stubby and it seems to work fine. At highway speeds though it bangs whack-whack-whack against the side of the door in an incredibly irritating manner. I cut a piece of clothes hanger and heatshrunk it along the antennae length to get it stiff enough to not flop against the body.

If you are in or near the city where the transmitter is, you should be fine. But be ready for the signal to fluctuate and fade when you're not.

Speed adjustment isn't enabled on my radio, can't stand those settings on any car. Even if that wasn't the case, speed adjustment increments isn't enough to have your volume set at max and hear 10% of the volume.

For what it’s worth, I bought an Antenna-X 24ā€ CB ā€œlookā€ antenna from Amazon before I even received my Jeep. Though I liked the look, I’m listening to more FM, now that my Sirius trial period has ended, and found a definite degradation in reception over the standard antenna.

So I reinstalled the OEM antenna, but not before painting it black. Though it may not look as good as the Antenna-X, the reception is much better and I think it definitely looks better than stock.

I just did the same as Mark (above), after reading the threads and seeing no real reception quality options, just painted mine black also - doesn't look half bad...
