Navigation Screen Protector

I have a new 26 and some people keep telling me that I should get a screen protector for navigation screen while others say don’t bother. Is adding a screen protector something I should do? If I do, should I add a tempered glass or film like one?

While not strictly necessary, I do use tempered glass screen protectors for peace of mind. Thus, a personal choice.

In the spirit of full disclosure, the Owner's Manual for my '21 states that such protectors should not be affixed to the head unit's touchscreen.

If you wheel with the top / windows wide open in dusty areas, then yes, I'd recommend protection. It just takes a little dust under your finger to scratch it.

Early JL radios had an issue with delamination of the screen. I don't know if a screen protector prevents it but it feels like cheap insurance.

I have a tempered glass one for my 2024. I ordered it from Amazon, not sure what brand.

Edit: I found it. It's been installed since April 2025 and no problems.

I installed this one a few years back and it is still looking great. Cuts down on the glare and still responsive. It also leaves no fingerprints.
