If you have attempted to remove your wiper arms, you probably noticed they are on tight. Some info below on the wiper arm/battery post puller I got for 11 bucks, shipped.
There appear to be two similar versions on Amazon. Be sure you get the new one with the beefier screw to prevent handle failure.
I was surprised with the weight of the unit. Probably 3x heavier than I expected at nearly 12oz.
It was reasonably priced, is simple to operate, fits fine & works perfect.
I know from a previous post, some feel lowering the windshield to clean it is a waste of time. I respect your opinion. If you are in that camp, disregard the balance of my post.
I am a bit anal on my windshield being clean for safety reasons. I find lowering it is quick & simple & allows for an extremely easy triple cleaning, leaving the entire inner surface swear & haze free.
You first remove the wiper arms. Pop off the plastic decorative caps, remove the two retainer nuts & pop the arms off & attach the puller.
There are only 4 screws that need to be removed to drop the windshield. They are T40s (highlighted in photo). I use the toolkits T40 bit in a cordless drill to speed the removal process & drop the winddshield.
Realistically you can do all this in just a couple minutes.
You can then take your time to properly clean the interior of the windshield. Mine acquires the "new vehicle" film every couple weeks from the interior plasticizers outgassing.
It also gives you full access to really clean the dash, duck storage pockets & air louvers.
As mentioned in a previous post I use the Sprayway brand of foaming glass cleaner, which is ammonia free.
It feels good driving with a crystal clear windshield. ?
