Could you help explain why my mileage cratered?
I need to start from the beginning: I bought my 2022 JL Wrangler new and drove it home the first week of February 2022.
Until 13,500 miles I always got 27mpg around town and 29mpg if I got on I-81. The mileage never deviated.
The dealership is Shelor Motor Mile Jeep in Gaithersburg, VA (southwest VA), I have no problem with the dealership, the sales and service department seem fine.
On 25 August 2023 with 13,788 miles it was repaired. I had Code P06EB Nox sensor and P2002-00 diesel particulate sensor below operating specs.
Both replaced under warranty.
For 200 miles before the repair my milage started to fall, about 2mpg less.
Then 2 weeks later my check engine light came on again. It took 2 weeks to get into the dealership.
They had the Jeep for 38 days waiting for the part during the auto strike. Mileage 14,590.
They replaced the diesel particulate filter and replaced the dosing injector and it said in the notes the original was damaged by the technician during install.
Now I have my Jeep back and I've driven 400 miles. I'm getting 22.5mpg in town and 23.5mpg on I-81. About 1/3rd drop.
I've performed two oil changes with factory parts I purchased at Shelor parts counter. Also an engine air filter and cabin air filter and also replaced the fuel filter.
All OEM parts. Mileage never went up or down with this work.
All varibles are the same. Same 2 gas stations for fill up. Same driving conditions. Same house and location.
As I understand it, the DPF helps clean the exhaust before discharge into the environment.
The sensor in front of the DPF, is that a "plug-n-play" part? Or, is it calibrated once installed and that could be my issue?
Has anyone else had this problem?
Any knowledge or suggestions before I return to the dealership?
My motive is to try and get back to 27-29mpg and then move on with my life.
