I couldn’t resist the rubicon bumper on eBay. Came in 3 days and was well packed. I wanted to powdercoat it but decided to just install for now. Picked up a good evo 8s as it wasn’t too bad priced.
‘The only issue I had was the winch plate holes didn’t allow the winch to be moved forward so I had to trim the grill for the power cables.
‘the fogs don’t direct fit so I have to drill some holes yet but should be pretty smooth. Decided to stick with the factory black hooks vs the red ones that came with it as the bolts were pretty short.

Anyone know what those red pieces in the lower right are for? Didn’t come with instructions so wasn’t sure on those pieces.

They’re D Ring Loops for D ring shackles.
Just an added recovery point.

They're supposed to be D-Ring recovery points...

... with that said, I would NEVER trust those, they're using some extremely small hardware, at a bad angle, and not tied directly to the frame, just the frame horns which aren't really designed for a ton of force.

They're liable to be sheared clean off the moment you put any kinetic energy in them, and now they're a 10lb projectile flying through the air, and are more than capable of killing someone.

Yea I don’t think I’ll need those. My main purpose was just to get a setup with some recovery gear ready for the beach.

Oh I’m sure it will but then I’ll just take that outer section and have it powder coated.

There was also a picture floating around of those red tow hooks on top being bent forward during a recovery. I have a similar bumper and replaced those with my stock ones. I spray all the bolt heads with wd40 to prevent corrosion, no bumper rust so far.

The OEM steel bumper rusts too. These are steel bumpers, rust comes with the territory. I put a $3k Warn bumper on my Silverado and it already had rust spots on day two. That's a top of the line product.

You can stick with the plastic bumper and deal with the fading plastic or you can go with the steel bumper and deal with rust spots. To me, the steel is a lot easier to fix - just a little sanding and some truck bed paint and it's like new again. There's nothing you can do about the fading plastic.

Mine has some surface rust after just a few months, but they salt here for the winter so I know that accelerated the corrosion. I'll sand it when the weather is good for painting and hit it with Rustoleum Rust Converter and Bedliner Spray.
