I've got one of the very earliest JLs and other than the U62 recall (which damn near every Chrysler product has), I've had absolutely no problems, nor any other recalls. No welding problems, no steering issues, no missing freedom panel bags, nothing. My JL just hit 20k miles and, so far, it's been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned.

It seems like the very first batch of JLs, right at the very start, are only the ones with virtually no problems. It's like the assembly line was pure perfection for the first couple of months and then they just decided to screw off.
Yep, same with mine.

If you want to see a pair of gaps. Open your tail gate and look where the hinges go into the tub.

UPDATE: Do you have open gaps around the areas where the tail gate hinges go into the body?
Or did Jeep forget to install 'gaskets/filler' around the hinge tails just on my Rubi?

I'll have to take photos and post, but does anyone else have gap issues with their JL? I know it's wrangler, but at $50K thought some of the pieces would fit better. So far with 2K miles on odometer 4 months of ownership (JLU Rubicon) - have:

- front hood vent on driver's side has gap between plastic vent and hood
- plastic gas cover / door now has gap between body and gas cover / door - can see one of the holes in body
- the plastic fairing on passenger side by window has a gap between body and fairing, much larger and noticeable than driver side
- plastic part in the grab handle on passenger side gap

I'm going to ask about these issues when I do first oil change, not annoying enough to deal with now but as a whole pretty crazy how many things don't fit well stock / out of the factory. I've been happy with the JLU otherwise and moded a lot already but still...

Michael: by no means do I mean to dilute the seriousness of your and other poster's concerns, just, perhaps, introduce some comic levity to ease the frustration.

These gap, err GAP issues, IMHO, literally and comedically stem from the people they hire.

Images below of what I was referring to. My fault for not spotting at time of pick up but only so many things you can notice. Fairing on driver side hood I can fit my pink between fairing and hood. Window fairing on passenger side I can fit my thumb through. Gas cover you can see how it's shifted and now see holes underneath / on body.

I'm hoping don't have to make multiple trips to fix these issues. Really annoying.

My Jeep had the same gap in your third pic. Turns out the bolts holding it on were torqued just a little too tight causing it to bow out like what you see. After removing the panel (to install some A pillar lights) and putting it back on after the install it now lines up perfectly. Your other two issues here seem like fairly quick fixes as well.

The gas cap is a dealer option, meaning the Rubicons were shipped with gas cap cover and dealer will install it. This seems a poor job by the dealer.

In case anyone has any information around rights re: lemon laws, or any further thoughts on the below would be greatly appreciated. In short, just got back from the Jeep dealership - I am still trying to calm down from the experience. In short:

1. Called 2 weeks ago to make an appointment at dealership in CT due to dealership in Manhattan having very bad ratings. I specifically made multiple calls to ensure that dealership knew I would be driving in, standing by and were aware of all issues to address at same time.

2. Was given a case number by the Jeep FCA account here on the forums. Was told someone from Jeep would call me, no call ever received.

3. I show up at the dealership today at my appointment time of 11:00am. Cut to 11:35am, I'm still standing in the parking lot looking around when technical advisor 1 comes out and tells me because lunch is happening soon everyone will be out and I would be there most of the day. When I asked why my appointment time wasn't being honored I was told "there are lots of issues" and "the appointment time is simply to limit the number of appointments in the day." I told him I didn't understand as I called to confirm multiple times why the appointment was made, where I was coming from and that I would be on standby + not leaving the Rubi. Was then told I didn't care about the technicians lunch and they work hard. This after I drove an hour and a half to the dealership and spent another half an hour standing around. Was also told "this is how dealerships work, everyone knows this."

4. Went inside, spoke to technical advisor 2. Same response - lunch is important. I proceeded to explain the above again - and I'm quoting the conversation:

Technical Advisor: "Let me ask you a smart question. Why didn't you bring the Jeep back to where you got it from?"

Me: "The Jeep dealership I purchased my Jeep from is far."

Technical Advisor: "Well, why didn't you buy it here?:

Me: "I'm not sure why that makes a difference or addresses the issues I'm having, both with the Jeep or now my appointment.

5. Long story short, closer to noon technician finally comes out after I told them I would take it up with Jeep directly. Asked for my Jeep back and was told to go for a ride. Technician acknowledged there was a lot of play in the steering wheel, and most likely bad dampener due to wobble. Other items not addressed on ride.

Finally get back, stand around some more and the manager comes out - tells me answers to issues which aren't all correct. I.E. fairing on right needs to go to body shop to be adjusted because of light bar install, which has nothing to do with the light bar.

If you were in my shoes - what would you do? I do not want to go back to the same dealership, at same time Jeep is now not responding to my PMs even though they're online. If I go elsewhere will be more wasted hours - having to first diagnose before ordering anything.

Cannot believe this is the experience with Jeep these days - officially the last time. Since 2005 I've had Rubicons and I cannot wait to get out of this one fast enough.

These type of post infuriate me. For all intents and purposes you have seemed to have an excellent attitude and you've done everything possible to make things smooth for you and dealership. It's mindblowing how things fall apart so quick. @JeepCares needs a DM. @jeepmikey I would not go back to that dealer. Are they the only ones close?

After 3 hours just got a response from JeepCares with "sorry for the dealership experience" and someone would be calling me.

It really gets me too - I've been a die hard Wrangler fan since I was a kid. I don't drive an M3 or other cars that make more sense for the $ because I've been loyal to Jeep all of these years and truly love the Wrangler. The thank you I get is service technicians telling me I don't care about their lunch or telling me to take my Jeep back to where I bought it from.

Also, I specifically went to this dealership to avoid the dealership in Manhattan due to poor reviews. I literally drove an hour and a half to the suburbs - spent hours, money and time to go there to calmly and thoroughly go through everything and this was the result. No idea what next steps will be or what dealership to go to.

On picture two, is that the vent on the hood. Mine looks like that. Did you get it sorted

Yes, this is the driver's side vent on the hood. Can fit a finger between the vent and hood. Was told a clip broke or wasn't applied correctly - whole vent needs to be ordered and replaced.
