I had been watching for the regular rubicon steel bumper on marketplace and Craigslist for a couple months. A guy in Atlanta with a new gladiator that the dealer had put it on when he bought it. He decided he wanted Fab4 bumpers on front and rear so took it off. He had it all listed for $750 and took the $700. Well worth the 3.5 hour drive there.

I used the red hooks and the LED fogs off my plastic bumper on it. Took some modifying to make the LEDs for the plastic bumper to work. Now that I have it, I like it more than the rubicon factory steel bumper. It’s more solid, mid-width, and only plastic on it are the too big crush can covers.

I just picked up a rear steel bumper off a ā€˜21 for $50..... Nice guy wanting to clear out his garage. I’m going to run it for awhile until I get a bumper with tire carrier.

Keep searching for deals
How did you find that deal?
Your Jeep looks great with that steel bumper. I thinking of changing out to the same one. A couple of questions if you wouldn’t mind. Did you see a significant drop in the front end when you changed it from the plastic one? Did you add a lift and 35’s or are those still the OEM 33’s?

I agree the rear steel bumper is crap, but not about the front one (version 1 that is). I know the steel isn't as thick as an aftermarket, but I still think its one of the best looking and most accessorizable(?) steel bumpers you can get.
Agreed. Most aftermarket bumpers look like a high school welding shop class was going for an origami inspired stealth bomber vibe. Hate the whole faceted thing. The only ones I've seen that are decent are the AEV offerings.

I’ve got the Metalcloak 2.5 and 37ā€ KO2’s. The drop from the bumper by itself was negligible. Once I added the Warn winch, it dropped about .5ā€. Here is a current picture:

Ya, I don't like the looks of it either. The OEM steel looks very nice but is way overpriced for what it is. You can get decent aluminum bumpers for what they're asking, even less. They weigh less and don't rust lol, that's what I'll eventually end up getting. It's plastic until then.

Quick question for you as I did install the bumper but were you able to install the ā€œd-ringā€ brackets to the frame?

None... but it pays well.
I think jeep was goid on putting hooks on top. as for no different ring. There are a few trucks with factory hooks facing down without issues
