Was browsing the mopar accessories website and came across a steel mesh prefilter for the stock and/or cold air intake. PN 82216440AA. Anyone here use it?

Seems good in theory, especially for my desert wash riding that gets pretty dusty. But I haven't seen any specs on the mesh size. Is it too large to stop anything, or too fine to allow good airflow?

I have one installed. Works for our desert climate but should not be used in freezing/wet conditions. See warnings that came on the instruction sheet:
CAUTION: Kit intended to filter sand size particles out before the air filter element to help extend the life of the filter. It is not intended to replace the air filter altogether.
CAUTION: Not intended for freezing weather. Filter can become clogged with ice if left installed

Ooo that is some good info. Do you notice it making a difference? The whole "extend the life of the filter" thing seems a little hocus-pocus to me, only because, 'can you really tell the difference between a 20k miles used filter and a 25k miles used filter'?' I don't know, maybe you can! So I'd still probably change the filter just when I 'felt' like it needed to be changed, but with the pre-filter keeping it a little clearer so that the filter generally performs better throughout my use of it, not necessarily trying to 'extend the life' and keep it in the jeep longer. Does that make sense?

It helps to keep the sand away from the baffles and crevasses of the paper filter..
