One more thing. You can't use a T and have two antennas connected at the same time. You'll have all kinds of tranmit issues and might seriously damage your radio. You need a switcher to keep the two antennas separated
Thanks for that! Will look into a proper switch before I do anything.

Did you get your wouxun yet?
Yes and I absolutely love it, I like being able to monitor 2 channels and switch between the two just at a touch of a button.
It’s loud even through the Mic.

So far I haven’t needed the range my 50w can muster. I wouldn’t mind a quick change to a rear whip antenna for the times I might need it. And otherwise run with my stubby ghost antenna.

I wonder if I could ’Tee’ off of the line and screw on a rear whip when I want?
I just found my receipt for the switcher I have. The company makes their products in the USA and the Miliary uses their stuff

I tried a couple of the Chinese made ones and found that they did not have self cleaning components and keeping the internals clean is paramount to peak performance and no issues that would cause radio damage.

The bad news is the price has gone up since I bought. Gigaparts has it in stock.

Hey Mike, thank you for this! Appreciate your follow up. Price seems a little steep but nice to hear your testament.

Now I am thinking how do I place it in an inconspicuous location that is easy to access. My head unit is under my driver’s seat. Thinking this needs to be under the seat as well but switchable without a visual. Need daylight to try to lay it out.

Thanks again.

Have mine on the passenger side mounted to the side of the center console closest to the front so it is easy to get to.

Thanks for your reply…I had a feeling. I didn’t know it transmitted out the bottom. What is odd is signals further away, I have no breakup. A Jeep right in front of me, choppy…. Funny thing to add is we went through a very tight tunnel, single lane, and the audio cleared up probably due to the signal bouncing off the top and sides of the tunnel. Once we got out, choppiness was back.. thanks for the discount code, I’ll check that out!
Your condition description sounds a lot like too much power too close is overloading the receiver. Did you ever try switching to low power to see if it cleared up?
