When: Saturday May 25, 2024

Time: I plan on getting there at 10:00 a.m. and plan on staying at least until 3:00 p.m.

Where:
Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area
6284 N. SH 155
Gilmer, TX 75645

Who: Bring yourselves, your rigs and your family. I will be bringing my father with me.

Extra Details: I'm not planning on doing anything too crazy, but it'd prolly be good idea if you do come to bring any recover gear you have. Depending how long you're out there for, I would bring some food maybe a cooler and some waters for yourself and any guests you have. I know @Mudduck said he was going to bring bring a grill, though I'm not sure he's going to cook for everyone. Maybe something we can chat about in here for those who want to go.

Other than that, let's have some fun!!

Oh yeah, More than likely! ;)
Honestly at this point I'm just hoping we don't get rained out. They are predicting rain memorial weekend, though it is quite a bit early to be making any serious calls on that.

Honestly as long as they don't close down the park, I'm going regardless.

Only downside is my Jeep leaks quite a bit with my current roof setup, so I'm not sure my dad's going to want to come with me and sit in the pasture seat if he's just going to get dripped on for 8 hours straight. ?‍♂

Let's say a prayer for the best! ?

Barnwell in the rain turns into straight shit too. I've been out there after a rain. That's Texas red dirt out there and you will have that red dirt on your Jeep till it gets scrapped.

That's right there is one of the best things about living close to the Red River, you got all that Okey mud to paint my Jeep red!

I knew a couple guys who went to Bridgeport the day after a downpour, couple of them got stuck a few times, but they said it was probably one of the funnest days they've had there. Bridgeport doesn't have a lot of trees to winch on, at least Barnwell does. ;)

I'm excited man, two days away!

I'm going! A little bit of water ain't going to scare me away!

I don't even care if I'm the only one who shows up, I'm going!

If anyone does show up, I'll bring some Psyducks so y'all can say you're the first ones on the forum to get one! ;)

Morning of my dad and I called an audible and we drove to Bridgeport instead. An hour less driving both ways, and it was pretty fun actually. I want to go again this next month. To Bridgeport that is. Think I'll save Barnwell for September or October once it cools down a little bit.

I got no AC in my Wrangler, and I actually just ordered a 20 inch by 10 ft section of 2ply ceramic tint which I'll apply to the window in my one piece top, because that sun cooking on your head for 8 hours ain't so fun.

Honestly probably would have gone to Barnwell but there's just a bunch of different things that kind of made me change my mind last minute.

Namely super busy week at work delivering beer, So getting home at 6:00 on a Friday night after working a 14-hour day, 3 hours to get my Jeep set up the way I wanted it, get some food in me and go right to bed and still only get 6 hours sleep before I have to wake up and leave just to drive two and a half hours and meet no one because there were no confirmed members coming. It was like why would I put myself through that?

So that's why I just decided to go to Northwest OHV and get an extra hour or two sleep. Honestly if there were confirmations of members going, I would have had to have shown up. But because no one had stated they were going I was like "fuck it let's go for the shorter drive."

Was a great time all the same though.

At this point I'm not sure if I'm just really good at choosing my lines and going off-roading, or if Northwest OHV is like child's play compared to other places, but according to their map I did the second hardest trails a couple times.
