I picked up my JL on 15 Feb and don't have guidelines now either. At first I questioned myself as to whether they were ever there in the first place...

I talked to Jeep Cares and I am told that this is a software glitch in the UConnect system. New software should come out Q2 2021 to resolve it. I have found that if I reboot the system, the backup lines appear 100% of the time, (until they don't).I am in same boat. A started disappearing and showing back up? I thought I was crazy until I read this thread! Lol. Jeep is only about two months old.
Welcome to the club @pilot00. The Uconnect specialist that I talked to was very informed and said that the target for the fix was Q2. I just ran an errand and I put mine in reverse and was pleasantly surprised that the lines were there. Such a high-quality camera with the 8.4 radio. I am very impressed.I also have this problem, 2021 brand new Jeep, I've had for 3 weeks.
It is a known issue higher than the dealer can handle. All they will do is flash your computer then the lines will be there. When you get home and back in they will be gone again. The issue is being worked and there will likely be a patch at some point. Until then the recommendation that I support from earlier in this thread is to make a game out of whether you will or will not have lines! This happens to me also periodically and is usually more of an annoyance than anything else, as I don't typically back into parking spaces.
Is this something that is just one of those things that..."oh well sometimes happens" or is it indicative of a bigger problem? I am trying to determine if I need to take the time out of my day and incur the inconvience of going to the dealer to have them "check out" my jeep for what they told me could take 24-48hrs.
I also periodically get a message that my blind spot monitoring unavailable (or something like that), but unlike when my reverse guidance lines vanish, when I go into settings and manually uncheck and then recheck the blind spot monitoring, it immediately returns to functioning and operational..ie don't have to turn off jeep or let it sit for any period of time.

Hmm.. the dealer apparently fixed mine by replacing the camera unit and harness. It is a known issue higher than the dealer can handle. Also for reference sake here was the record for what they did.It is a known issue higher than the dealer can handle. All they will do is flash your computer then the lines will be there. Maybe the "blue or black" part was able to put you over the edge to be replaced. I don't have those issues. Just the intermittent lines. Also for reference sake here was the record for what they did.
