I disagree completely with you. This price was advertised online. It was not advertised at the price they tried to quote me. And I assure you I have bought my last six vehicles all of which were in and exceeding this price range without sitting foot ever in the dealership. The fact that the dealer baited its customers with one price and changed it once they called is more a principle of the matter than me agreeing to pay a few thousand dollars more than I was anticipating.

Funny. That was the one I was trying to buy. However, the price listed is NOT what the dealer is wanting. They told me there was a BS coating applied to the paint for $1295 and also a $5000 additional added for reflecting market conditions. Hence the hesitation from me. If the dealer is going to be this deceiving when I am trying to give them my $$$, what else will they be untruthful about. Beware of those guys. Its a nice Jeep but I cant imagine anyone acting differently than I did. I have 5 "toys" in the garage now I barely drive so if this doesn't work out I will hardly lose sleep.

While funny, it is not going to make them reconsider. Only thing that might happen is as these guys near months end, they might reconsider and come back to me. Thats what the salesperson told me. However, I have the piece of mind to lower my offer for an MSRP deal if and when he comes back wanting to make a deal. Who says 2 cant play the same game???

Game still going. The GM of the store called just now. Wanted me to split the difference with him. Apparently the paint finish is ceramic and the salesperson had no idea what they were selling. I told him to honor the price it was advertised for or sell it elsewhere. He is going to speak with the owner now. Any guesses whether they accept? I’m guessing they do.

Congratulations on standing firm. It’s hard to do when you really want something. But I agree the buyer is definitely getting more power.

deal was verbally accepted. Credit card deposit is going through now. Maybe the tides are turning back to a buyers market soon. I’ll let y’all know when she arrives.
I hope they sent an email with that in writing... :/

Provided they already ran my deposit and sent me several emails outlining the costs I’m far from concerned.

Dealerships use software that sometimes just have a third party enter all their pricing information, and that's where stuff like this comes from -- especially if it was recent inventory. They may just have not updated it yet.

It's still crap, just explaining how it can sometimes happen.

Sounds like the ceramic coated may not have even been applied yet. Also ask if it was done to both sets of doors, ha, if they say it was actually applied. Either way, they should be able to provide evidence as a $1295 ceramic coating would come with a warranty card.

They are giving me a warranty card for the ceramic coating hood for 5 years so I’d bet it was already applied. Otherwise why do it when I wasn’t paying for it?

Salesman was told to waive the fluff added or find another buyer. He is dancing with his sales manager now. Will update you guys soon. For the time being, I’ll omit the dealers name until this plays out.
Don’t play the salesman-sales mgr game! Always go directly to the sales mgr and get the facts directly and quickly! If the sales mgr plays games find a reputable dealer!
