I watched that… personally I’d rather add the FAD motor and put it on an Aux switch. If I remember correctly even jeeps that are full time 4wd still have the two piece axle tube, fad block off cover, and a 2 piece axle with a collar holding them together.

These hubs are too expensive and too much work.

That is correct. The 392 axles I bought had a plate with stationary forks to hold the collar in place.

FAD delete is just deleting the FAD motor, still a two piece axle.

Be interesting to see who tries these. If they are strong and work it might be a good change and weight saver. I had locking hubs on my Golden Eagle and they worked great and never a problem.

I watched this video yesterday. Just skip the first 5:30 minutes. This guy is longer winded than me talking to a pretty lady petting my dog at the park.

If you're still awake by the end, he drops a hint as to the strength or possibly the weakness. I decided I don't need this.

A few years ago, @CarbonSteel and I collaborated on a front axle project where we used a set of Dana 4340 chromoloy axles, intended to eliminate FAD, in a similar method as the factory setup that still used the 2 piece axle and collar, by making the FAD shift fork stationary. These axles also have huge 1410 series U-joints that replace the OEM 1350 U-joints. I'm about 22k miles on that setup and 3 trips on the Rubicon as well as a few Moab trails and many other CA and AZ trails. It's been flawless and basically maintenance free. Apparently, Revolution Gear decided to produce a setup that mimics what we did above. Revolution Gear Discovery Series 2018+ Wrangler JL and JT Chromoly Front Axle Kit - Revolution Gear & Axle I don't know anything about it. But it states on their website that it retains FAD. However, it does not include a 4340 chromoly inner shaft and collar. It does use 1410 U-joints like the Dana axles we used. The OEM jeep inner axle and collar are NOT chromoly. So, I recommend going with a RCV collar and inner axle (~$500, 3 years ago), if you install the Revolution Gear setup.

Pretty ladies “petting your dog” at the park. Well ok then.

It sounds like it would have been more entertaining if The Ram Man did the video. And if not, show the installation rather than talking for 15 minutes.
Youtube must have started paying by the word count in videos.

I added the FAD motor to my 2021 392 JLU about 2 years ago for about $300. I can't see why anyone would spend $2100.00 to accomplish the same thing.

Locking Hubs, who's gonna be first??? Not me. I'm happy with the factory set up. I had a vehicle with locking hubs. They worked and they worked well but it was very inconvenient.

I also watched the video cause I was intrigued by the locking hubs but he said $2100 to make a noise that isn’t harmful to the jeep go away and was immediately not interested. It’s not like anything was being damaged just the noise was annoying. Sounds like he shouldn’t have bought a jeep!
