i have a bunch of lights on the jeep already are 4 inch baja combo white and 2 small flood 2 inch cube also white these are mounted on the front bumper

i just bought 2 5 inch amber and 2 amber fog lights to replace the factory ones and two hood vent, mounted projection, white lights

I’m thinking of moving the 4 inch Baja’s up to the A pillar or to the outer position on the bumper and then moving the 2 inch flood lamps to the A pillar

that would give me a 4 inch set and a 5 inch set at the bumper level two projection 2 inch lights at the hood level in the vents and two floodlights at the a pillar

What are your thoughts on this? What kind of arrangements are you running? I’d love to hear.

hasn’t happened yet that’s what I’m trying to figure out is where to put the damn lights big ones on the bumper little ones on the counter. Is there a Logic between Amber and white lights one high and one low?

Your setup actually sounds pretty solid — you’ve got enough variety to layer the light instead of just blasting one giant wall of white at everything. If it were my Jeep, I’d keep it simple!

Bumper: Big lights. Your 4" whites + 5" ambers make a nice combo — white for distance, amber for cutting glare/dust.

A-pillars: Floods up top are great for slow crawling, side visibility, and spotting obstacles. Just don’t aim them at the sky or at your hood.
  • Amber low + white high = cuts glare in dust/snow at bumper level while the white beams reach further out.
  • White low + amber high = less common, but some people do it to avoid white light bouncing off their hood or windshield.
Your exact setup just depends on what kind of terrain you’re in most, but you can make it make sense!

Nothing forward facing at the A-pillar. Too much light spillage onto the hood. If you get a wide enough pattern basically a flood, you can probably get away with just a single light looking straight to the side. I have a set of S1's facing forward, a set angled out, and a set facing directly to the side. The only ones that actually make sense are the work scenes that face to the side. I'm going to remove the S1 laser spots. They have the tightest beam that BD offers and I still get a tiny bit of hood splash. Not a big deal but they also don't really do anything for me. I bought them just to see how good "lasers" were and though they are small I can use my imagination to extrapolate out to a larger size and I just don't see the big deal.

I'll probably get some squadrons at some point to act as a ditch light in a wide cornering and face them out at an angle. As you were told above A-pillars are really better suited for slow driving.

Ambers as low as you can in front. And white everywhere else.
