Let's Talk Tires. 35's, to Be Specific

I'm with Ron. Honestly, I don't think anyone who knows tires believes the size on the sidewall should be taken literally and as an absolute, because it just doesn't work that way. There are fairly wide variances between manufacturers, and ride height almost never equals the stated size. I'd love someone to show me a major brand 35x12.5x 17 that measures a true 35", especially when mounted, and I'll be surprised.

Anyone have some experience with treadwright? I had them on a jeep quite a few years ago, but only drove for ~500 miles before selling the jeep.

They might be fine, but why? Tires are the one thing in contact with the road. I just don't know enough about those to be confident in them. If my Jeep was an off-road only machine, then maybe. I'd have to talk to some actual owners and people with experience with them before I'd consider them.

It will be my daily driver so I’d like to stick to all terrains that would give me a relatively quiet ride and wear well. I was thinking about nitto terra grappler G2’s or BGF KO2’s possibly? I'm leaning toward the KO2's, but I've heard the Terra Grapplers are great. I don't think you could go wrong either way. My preference for the KO2's is based on ownership of KO's, KM's, and KM2's. All have been outstanding, on and off the road. It is also based on a guy named Dan Grec, who is doing a 2 year 80,000 mile trek around Africa. he's running 34" KO2's on a JK Rubicon, and he said they have been amazing. He's run roads, gravel, dirt, thick mud, and sand. Some of the roads have been in horrible condition. I asked him about his tires and he sent me a note saying they've exceeded his expectations and that he'd choose them again. That testimonial probably went the furthest for me.

Thank you so much for the input! I feel like the KO2’s seem to be a favorite across the board. And thanks for the link, both the website and story are amazing. And I’m with you, if he’s running those tires in all the different terrains of Africa I’m sure you can’t go wrong with them

I checked JK-Forum and it looks like there are literally hundreds of people with 35's on stock rims. After lots of searching, I didn't find one single complaint. Not one.

I've been all over the map on the ST Pro, Firestone Destination MT2, and KO2. I keep coming back to the KO2. I just have to buckle down and decide between the C load version or the E. I still can't believe the weight is virtually the same on the two, but every source I've seen, including BFG, says that is the case. I'd love to talk to one of their engineers to find out why that is.

The Firestone Destination MT2 are the best mud or all terrain tire I've ever tried! They look incredible, ride quiet, and have unbeatable off road performance (as shown in the company's face off against Goodrich's KM2s). Also, they have NEVER torn a lug, ever.

Next to the stock BF Goodrich's they replaced (same size)

One more thing...Did your Jeep automatically adjust the speedometer to compensate? That's the big question.
