Welcome to another exciting game of "GUESS....THAT....SOUND!" hosted by Jeep JL
JL Rubicon.

Yukon 513 gears

Plenty more, but not relevant. probably.
in 2wd, significant noise while driving. most noticeable at 40mph +. Increasingly loud/noticeable at hwy speeds.
When placed in 4hi the noise COMPLETELY goes away. Immediately returns in 2
When placed in Neutral the noise stays.
When on or off the gas pedal....same noise.
Noise at first sounded like increased wind noise. Eventually noticed it came mostly from the shifter/trans area and started testing the above.
The noise has the constant sound of what sounds like a partially opened window or leaky top, but to add to that it has a repetitive humm that comes and goes every second or so. This humm is NOT effected by RPM or gear. Same rhythm always.
That pretty much covers that. 4wd does make the sound go away, however....when on decel or on/off throttle theres a slight grindy noise/feel but thats different from the main noise of the thread. Extra credit for input on that.
Ok, the betting windows are now open.
