Hoping someone can help me. Ive been experiencing a clunking noise. I can also feel it in my soul and it hurts.

some background info:

It’s a JLUR. 2 inch Mopar lift. 37in tires. Heavily modded. No spare tire.
Aftermarket rear bumpers been fully tightened down. I recently added LOD signature frame mounted rock sliders, but the install went smooth. I loosened the 4 body mount bolts and re torqued them to spec. I mention this because I feel like the noise started slightly after this install, but I lose track because I’m always doing something to the jeep

i digress.

so this clunk noise/feeling ( And I wanna emphasize on feeling because i feel it more than i hear it. And it feels really bad. But it is audible. ) mostly occurs when the driver side hits a reasonably large pot hole or any kind of dip in the road. . So exiting parking lots will trigger it.

I do have a video that kind of shows it but I’ve had a hard time capturing it with my GoPro. In slow motion you can see what appears to be a body mount bolt behind the rear left tire with some play, and I don’t know if that’s supposed to bounce like that? But I physically can’t tighten it down anymore than it already is. I tried with a huge 1/2” ratchet. And im a pretty strong dude.

I’m at 20k with a warranty but I hate the stealership. Any advice?

I had a similar clunk or pop noise after my lod signature series install. I ended up taking each bolt off, putting lock tight on each and over torquing by 10ftlbs.
Like you I had to loosen the body mount bolts but re tq them and didn’t have to go back and tighten those.

I noticed when the Jeep flexed or twisted. At work I have a high angle approach to the parking lot which no sports car could make. That is a great place to test these kinds of things.

You could check your control arm track bar bolts but I lean towards the sliders since that was my experience.

I had a similar clunk noise as JPXR pointed out (control arm bolt) mine was not tightened to spec, I had my mechanic put it on the lift to tighten it. I couldn't get it tightened to spec while lying on the ground and my torque wrench only went up to 150lbs anyways. Give an old guy a break will ya.

Yes, I would also check upper & lower shock bolts, track bar, etc. Still has the noise, I would take a look at the brakes & E-brake assembly.
