So I was under the Jeep today looking at the geometry to resolve bump steer when I noticed an oily substance running down the bottom of the passenger side frame rail. I popped the hood to see if I could find the leak and saw my power steering fluid was almost gone (that's why it's been squeaking when it starts...thought it was a belt). From the underside:

From the wheel well (lifting the plastic panel):

Pulled the air box out:

The fluid is all accumulating at the nut on the bottom...which was making think it's an o-ring inside that black cap that is secured with 3 bolts holding it on. But when posting the last photo and seeing the expanded view, I'm gonna have to go check that top nut as well. (ETA: It's not the bolt...that was nice and tight...back to thinking an o-ring or seal inside that endcap.

Was just curious if this is something others have experience, or if it was personalized gesture from Jeep just for me. :D

This happened to me with less than 15,000 miles on the Jeep. I discovered it earlier - while I was fueling up. Local dealer replaced it for me under warranty.

Well glad it's not just me. I'm about to flip 20k now, but unfortunately I'm out of my 3yr/36k warranty already (by 3 months). Guess it's time to hit a scrap yard....having a hard time coughing up $900 for a power steering pump. =(
