Got it at a main Dealer, doubt they would do a shady sale. Think I'll look at the VIN in the engine bay tomorrow. Also re check the paperwork.

there was one person on this forum that had a mismatch VIN, and it was a horror show for him, I don't really remember the details, it creates all sorts of problems.

I got it on the edge of the drivers door. About 4 weeks ago I got it registered at NJ Motor Vehicle as I purchased it in DE and nothing was said by the inspector, I would think the 4door would have given a red flag even if she didn't know what model it was.

There's a chance the factory screwed it up and nobody caught it. If I remember correctly, there are three places where your VIN is located on your JL. But first, recheck that you copied the VIN correctly from the driver's door, then go to this URL https://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/BuildSheetServlet?vin= and plug that VIN in at the end. Note that it'll give a maintenance error message until you plug in your VIN and it must be in ALL CAPS.

If the build sheet for your VIN doesn't match your Jeep then you'll need to start searching for the other VINs. There's a decent chance that one of the others is correct. Then the "fun" begins in trying to get it straightened out. If it's really wrong then you basically don't have insurance and it isn't registered. But then again there's probably a Sport JLU out there in the same situation.

I'm guessing you bought it new since a fuck-up like this would have kept it from being resold. Assuming, of course, you copied the VIN correctly.

If the VIN is fucked up then your loan, your registration, and your insurance is all questionable.

I got mine scheduled, but the dealer told me they had to reschedule because they needed to have a loaner available if it failed the inspection. I clarified with them, if it fails, they keep it till parts arrive and could be months before that happens. The loaner/rental is covered, IE free to me., so got it rescheduled for late August, in the meantime, I crawled under the jeep to take a look and some pics to compare to the pictures in the recall notice and it looks like mine is fine, but still taking it in. Pics of mine to compare with the pics in the recall.

As for the location, crawl underneath the passenger side from the front, the pump is located just back and above the differential and the connectors face towards the engine. Might need a flashlight to see it clearer. Also note that on the larger power connectors, as from the recall notice, some of the grey insulation can be showing, but none of the lower red "ribs" should be visible. Notice on mine that the black (negative cable) has more of the grey visible but that is fine, just none of the red "ribs".

I got it used, had 5307 miles on it. The owner traded it in for some thing easier to drive (its Manual). Was a great price! I haven't checked the other VIN's yet, something came up.

Took my JLUR to the dealership today. After 1.5 hours, the service advisor said I was good to go...no issues. He said that they had performed around 200 inspections so far and had not found any Jeep with an issue. Glad I can once again "safely" garage it, esp since it's hitting 115° in PHX this week.
