Largest Spare Tire Size?

I've searched and cannot find a thread that talks about the largest tire size you can fit on the stock spare tire carrier.
I'll be going with an aftermarket rim that is still 17"x9" in diameter but has a +12mm offset. Any ideas on size of tire I can go with?

You can measure it yourself using this calculator/visualizer. It will tell you exactly how much further out and wider an alternate tire size & wheel offset would be.
Don't forget about weight though. The gate may need reinforcement at 35s & up.

10-4, I’ll check it out. I’m not planning on going any bigger than 265 if they fit, which should be just a tad smaller than 32’s I believe.

Rubicon tires are about the largest that will fit.
I don't know what they do with for the Extreme Recon versions, maybe they have a different tire rack and/or different bumper.

Off the top of my head- 285/70R17 BF Goodrich KO2, about 33" diameter.

I have a 35x12.5 inch tire on a Quadratec Moab wheel, mounted on my stock Sahara spare carrier. I use a Smittibilt spare carrier relocation bracket to handle the extra tire width and clear the bumper.

It is a tight fit but it fits.

The relocation bracket costs around $100.

I am running a 35" on her JLURD with the Mopar tailgate reinforcement. That weighs about 85 lbs. I had to add one of these to get the snubber to secure the tire:

The tire touches the steel bumper but does not impede the tailgate.

Mine also came with the Mopar tailgate reinforcement from the factory. I like it better than the stock carrier because it is adjustable for reach and I have that 37" tire tucked in against the factory snubbers. It hangs out less than hers. The closer the tire is to the tailgate, the less force it applies to the tailgate.

I added a Smittybilt HD 7743 reinforced tailgate bracket, since I knew the heavier tire/wheel combo, and the fuel/propane I'd be strapping to the 317/70R17 tires on ICON Rebound Pros (lightest beadlocks) would require extra strength. Just got back from Easter Jeep Safari, 5.000 miles and no issues. There *seems* to be enough room to mount a 37, the part of the mount that supports the wheel can be moved up and out.
