Hi All,

I am looking at the Lang Hoist-A-Top and looking for input from people that have this top hoist. For reference, this is what I am looking at - https://langeoriginals.com/collections/jeep-wrangler-products/products/jeep-top-hoist

What I am curious about is how hard is it to get the hook connected at the rear window and have you had issues with it messing up the seal around the rear window such that it leaks the next time you install the hard top? I took a screen grab and circled the hook I am talking about in green.

I already have a storage rack on my ceiling and it would be pretty simple to add the 3 hooks Lang sells to my existing rack and create a super simple lift for my hard top - but I definitely do not want to tear up or deform the rear window seal such that I end up with water in my Jeep next winter!

Thanks for any input you all have!

I don't have their top hoist but I have the hoist cart it uses the same plate on the back window. I haven't had a problem with it and think it would be okay. Mine sits on the cart though and isn't hanging from it so there is that. The metal plate goes around the seal rather than hanging from it.

Good Luck!

I have a similar rear bracket on my cable type cieling hoist. It was made for the JK but it works ok on the JL as well. I covered it with duct tape as I worried about direct contact to the window and it works well.

I have 2 Lange hoists and I do love them. They make it so easy to take the top on and off which I find myself doing more than before I had them.
Personally, my only complaint is with the back hook they supply. I found that if the whole t-bar system wasn’t perfectly lined up it could be a nightmare to remove the hook when putting the top back on. So many times I had to fight it and I was seriously worried I would end up breaking the back glass.
Someone posted years ago on the forum about products from Topsy and I ended up going with their add on parts. They sell and added bar that bolts into the Lange T bar at the back essentially turning that into a large I beam. Then they have brackets that for under you back glass hinges. Hard for me to describe but it makes the whole Lange system a million times better and much easier.

Now I absolutely love my setup!!
