@B&ZRubi that's great information! Thank you for taking the time to post. Many forum members should find it helpful when purchasing larger tires. :like:

Well, new tires went on and they look fantastic. I'm a big fan of the raised white lettering which became an option after 2018.

That said, I see this ugly balance job on one tire. Shouldn't they have rotated the tire 180 degrees to avoid needing so much weight? At the very least they could have stuck the top one on straight!

Should I go back and complain, or is it merely an aesthetic issue?

@Discount Tire - wish you guys were local. (I will say I've used this same shop for 20 years and this is the first time I'm leaving with a concern.)

Edit to add: the drops are just water from me cleaning off the blue chalk; it's not adhesive

Larger diameter tires like this do have a tendency to call for more weight, but "double stacking" weight like that can be a concern. I might take a second look at doing a road force balance on the tire in question.

Doesnt Discount do road force standard on all tires?

I just put 37x12.5 KO2s on my JL and they ride like butter. I had the MT2 stock tires on my Willy's and they were rough and noisy, but I don't think the previous owner rotated them correctly. I am curious how the KO2s will do off-road, which will happen soon. With that said it does suck Discount Tires isn't everywhere. I bought a couple sets of wheels/tires from them for my JK's over the past. Great company to deal with. Also they had deals on tire/wheel packages, at least at that point, that allowed you to upgrade your wheels and then you can do the swap-out yourself.

Thank you for the kind words! I will say that we are actively looking at locations close to your area, so keep an eye out!

That was a lazy job of balancing. You might want to take it back, and have them redo it properly.

Be careful with double stacking stick on weights. If they move them just a little bit inward, your rotor will rub them and eventually cut a groove into the weight.
