Just curious, good people.

My wife and I have two JLU’s - hers a 2020 Sahara, mine a 2021 Rubicon. We drive my Rubicon for almost everything. It has 44K miles on the odometer.

Her 5.5-year-old Sahara has only around 4K miles. That’s right, we‘ve had it a year longer than the Rubicon, but it only has 1/10th of the miles.

Needless to say, her Sahara, with the 3.6 eTorque (thus an auto trans) is *almost* new; I wonder if it’s even fully broken-in!

How much value would typically be added to her Wrangler upon sale or trade, over like-Wranglers with a more-normal 50-60K miles, everything else being the same? Her vehicle is not a lease vehicle.

It’s broke in already. It’s worth whatever the value is for that year and miles. I don’t know about a unicorn. I’d say if you had a TJ with that type of mileage you’d have a unicorn.
Thank you, Sean.

Just go to kbb.com or edmunds.com and input the info with twice with the different mileage and you should have a good idea.

I mean the overall condition will matter the most. The one problem with having so few miles is that you haven't reached a few of the maintenance items you otherwise would've, some of which may really be more time-based than mileage based

I wouldn't expect any exceptional additional value at the time of trade/sale, but it will definitely be a plus against any damage. I would also make sure you are still regularly changing the oil, not just waiting for miles, and making sure things like hoses and tires are continually checked based on years and not mileage as dry rot doesn't care how fast or slow you drive

some people might be afraid of a vehicle with that low of miles because they might think it has had issue that prevented it from being driven..also sometimes a vehicle just sitting is not the greatest for transmission and seals etc.. 4000 miles in a 6 year old vehicle would probably concern me if I were looking but some would think it was great so I guess just depends on who was looking at it. as was said kbb has the milage so punch 4000 in and 40,000 in and see.

Super low miles add to value, but not as much as you might think given how low the miles are. Because, even though the miles are very low, the warranty has expired.

2022 with 15000 here.
2019 with 11,000 here, but the miles are accumulating faster now that I’m retired and I‘ve put the top on it (So I can drive it in the winter).

Low-miles wranglers are quite common, as many are weekend toys or RV “toads”.

Mine’s a 2020 about to turn 33k miles. But also have a pickup, an SUV, and a motorcycle. Nothing racks the miles up too fast here.

Question though. Why are you saving the Sahara? Why not put some miles on it and give the Rubicon a break. They are equally adept as daily drivers.

An, albeit crude, phrase that has stuck in my head for years now is “not driving your vehicle to improve resale value is like not having s#x with your wife so she’s tighter for the next guy”.
As others have said here, it can create issues and put off some buyers. It’s a 4 door Sahara, not a rare exotic, mileage does not matter nearly as much.

2020 4dr Sahara 5000 miles. She was purchased to be my vehicle for work but circumstances lead to my retiring in early 2021 so she mostly just sits in the driveway. She'll probably outlast me. :)

The low mileage adds a small premium but a unicorn it is not. The estimated values via the traditional books and estimation services can lead you to a realistic number for it.
