I had a 2014 JKUR that was on tons and 40’s. Sold it in 2017 and decided last month (March 14) to start all over again with a 2022 JLUR. Due to supply chain issues thr JLUR I got was fairly low options. Learner seats and painted hard top. The original plan was to do something fairly mild with stock axles and 38’s. Started talking to my builder and sourcing parts. Ended up deciding on the following a build:

Dynatrac PR60/80 combo.
42”Nitto trail Grapplers on 20” KMC beadlocks.
Evo Long Arm with EVO double throwdown suspension. With king coilovers and bypass shocks.
EVO 1/4 pounder front bumper.
Warn VR series 10k winch
EVO Rear Fascia Delete
EVO/King front and rear air bumps
Anti rock rear sway bar
EVO quick front sway bar disconnect.
PSC hydro assist steering
Artec aluminum skid plates.
ARB dual compressor for the ARB lockers
Rockslide engineering step sliders with their armor

I’m trying to avoid an engine swap so I’ve done what I can with the 2.0L but 42’s will be a load even with 5:38 gearing.

so far I’ve added the JB4, mishimoto intercooler pipe, GFB BV+, and the S&B CAI with the hood vents.

For lighting:

I’ve added Oracle Oculus LED Headlights but I don’t like the Halo. - I think I’m going to disconnect that function.

for the front fenders I added the Quake Led Fender chop kit. But these may go up for sale since I think I’ve changed my mind on OEM Rubi fenders and am going with JCR.

I’ve also added the Oracle flush mount tail lights. Those were painful since they cause a turn signal out error to appear even though they are supposedly turn key).My Tazer didn’t fix it but bought a JScan and it’s fine now.

So far the axles, wheels, tires and PSC is in todaydouble throwdown king suspension is in. Still waiting on long arms. I’ve received half the parts at my house and am bolting on what I can.

still waiting on the rockslide engineering sliders.

the official suspension and axle install will
Start within the next two weeks.

Jeep has gone as far as I’m going to take it at home. It’s in that awkward “Jeep Puberty” phase where it has stock wheels but some accessories and bumpers for a more serious build. The fender chop was half done but I kept the inner fender and bottom half together while I’m waiting for the build to start
Hopefully this will be rectified over the next month.

as it stands I installed the rear Fascia yesterday and decided not to install the EVO tire carrier since I’m doing 42’s in lieu of 40’s. Also added the Artec spare tire delete and license plate relo.

I really hate the way it looks right now. It’s my daily until my Tesla Plaid gets here next month. Might have to rent a car while this thing undergoes surgery.

Sea of parts is sitting in the garage. Rockslide engineering armor came in but the soldiers are still 3 weeks out. I have the front EVO inner fenders back from powder coat but the Artec rear fenders just got here today. They. Wed to go out for powder coat. The Borla touring climber exhaust is waiting for the build. That might become a short lived mod if I decide the 4 banger isn’t gonna cut it and I want a Hellcat or 392

well the build is now underway at Tactical Offroad in Houston. Rubicon Axles are off. Made a few changes to the build- ditching the Evo front bumper and going Genright. Also wasn’t a huge fan of the fenderchop so I went tube fenders. More to come.

The build hit some minor snags while waiting for parts. The Dynatrac pro rock 60 I for the front was used and came off of another build. Ended up needing a new passenger side upper corntrol arm bracket. Also needed the long arm brackets. Everything came in today. Some fairly good progress while waiting for parts.

genright tube fenders, Artec inner fenders, antirocks and rear King air bumps installed:

That’s going to be a beast! My friend has 42s and a similar setup on hers and it’s awesome!

the following a build:

Dynatrac PR60/80 combo.
42”Nitto trail Grapplers on 20” KMC beadlocks.

I’m trying to avoid an engine swap so I’ve done what I can with the 2.0L but 42’s will be a load even with 5:38 gearing.
I'm planning a very similar build. One shop in Utah suggested
Dynatrac PR60/80 combo and
42”Nitto trail Grapplers on 20” KMC beadlocks.

But for the same price you can get sticky Maxis Trepador 42.9" x 15.3 wide (Pay a lot more for tires but much less for 17" beadlocks). That's what the DYNATRAC CODE1 used (and obviously the PR60/80 axles).

Dynatrac wanted to save a few pennies so they didn't order a Rubicon. I've talked to them and they strongly suggest I do the same. But I can't live without the white painted top and the 4:1 xfer case, so I'm ordering a Rubicon. I asked them if the 2.71:1 xfer case was low enough and they said easily with an automatic. I'm sure that combo is fine but I like to crawl at low RPMs.

with the 2.0L but 42’s will be a load even with 5:38 gearing.
Not crawling with the 4:1 xfer case. Who care about anything else. See my https://bt39.com/GearWheelSpeed and your tires with 5:38 gears is almost identical to stock gearing.

Sound like an amazing build and I'm anxious for more updates.

Well it’s been a few weeks since I live updated this thread. Since the last build, I added Artec skids, rock hard sport cage, ARB dual compressor for thr Evo no limits sway bar disconnect, rockslide engineering sliders (still waiting for the armor that goes over them), genright bumpers and fenders, Motoband KC light bar. The build is done. it drives fantastic and the 2.0 with the JB4 tune is significantly peppier than my JK was on 40’s and feels noticeably faster than another JLUR build on 42’s. That said, I’m still debating between staying as-is or doing a 392 swap or going to a Demon swap.

I dont think it’s a bad idea to go with the
43” Maxis tire and 17” wheel setup. Longer term there is a better tire selection. 42” Trail grapplers are unobtanium right now. Like I said in the post above, power isn’t bad. It’s not fast by any means but it’s not unbearable. Gas mileage is 12.5ish.

beautiful Rig. still curious why buy a rubicon if you're taking all the rubicon gear off? you could get a sport s and do the same thing and save thousands and just by a rubicon 4:1 xcase or add the atlas xcase?

That's what Dynatrac did and talking to them, that's what they suggested I do. I'm sure glad I didn't take their advice because I've decided not to put one tons on a JLR. So I've got a JLR with 37's and a 4:1 xfer case that goes where no sport can go. I'll get a JLUR next year for Fusion or DSTRAC D70's and 43's. In the mean time I'm having fun with my JLR.

Another reason for me is I require a painted white hard top that's 30 deg cooler than the black in the intense sun. You can't get that with the Sport.

By the time you sell you Ruby axles and account for the cost of a new xfer case, I felt the Ruby was a better and safer deal.

A few reasons for the Rubicon. Like others have said, I just wanted some of the options. I wanted the leather seats and contrast stitching. I wanted the transfer case, the painted hard top, bigger screen, etc. I wanted something nice when I got in it for when I’m not on the trail.

you get a few thousand for the take off axles. A little for the Rubi rails, some for the rubicon wheels and tires. In the end, maybe the sport route might have been a little less expensive but it’s rounding errors.

Quite honestly, the original intention wasn’t to build something this extreme. It just ended up this way. Started with the intention of using stock axles and 38’s on a bolt on coilover system. Then I came across a used set of axles and Tactical Offroad had 42’s and most of the double throwdown kit in stock. Somehow I was able to justify the extra spend with the “buy once cry once” mentality and the rest is history.
