I'm sure this has been discussed, if so, can someone share the link with me?
I have a 21 JLU with the 7" head and no sub. I am wanting to add the sub and amp but haven't come up with a spot yet. I cannot use the regular spot in the rear sides because I have the Diabolical Slipstream system. I have a very limited spot between the rear seats and Diabolical wall, the lower compartment in the rear cargo area, the tailgate, and under the driver's seat. Is there another spot? Has anyone done this before? I need a plan before I start buying parts.

Recently experienced a JT with 3-6" subs under the seat, replacement speakers all around and a Stinger head unit. I was blown away! I can't replicate it or I would in an instant. Anybody got any ideas or photos from previous installs?

I did search but "sub" is used so much I couldn't find what I was looking for. Thanks in advance.

I would recommend stopping by your local specialty stereo shop to see what they have to offer. Your particular build will benefit from a custom enclosure and off the shelf stuff may not give you what you need. There are a few companies out there that make an enclosure/sub and possibly and amp that would fit under the front seat, though it might not give you the output you're looking for. If you were closer, I'd say run by the house at some point and see what we can work up, but it might be a long ride up to Knoxville!

I just added a Kicker HS08 to my system. It is an amp and sub in one unit. I lifted my front passenger seat by 1.5” and have plenty room under the seat for the unit and still have plenty of head room.

I have a twin ARB system under that seat. I've talked to two local shops and I've asked about the powered subs that fit under there and they acted like it wouldn't be enough. I hadn't thought about raising the seats though. One of them said he wasn't a carpenter and couldn't build anything, lucky for me that was my profession for 30+ years. I think I want to build something behind the rear seats but the problem is that I don't know how much room I need to fit a sub or two smaller ones. Pictures show how much room I have.

measure at the 10” height mark if you have 3” from that mark to the back of the seat then you’re good for either the Kicker HS10 or 8. Another option would be raise both seats and IMHO I would move the ARB to under the driver’s seat and put the amp & sub under the passenger seat. You can buy a lift kit for each seat for under $70 total. It took me about 30-60 minutes to install.

Why would you switch seats? I'd have to get a longer power cord for the compressor.

I see. I would agree with the reasoning, however I have the Kraken mount system and it is made for the passenger side. My wife is in that seat most of the time so either way someone would be setting over the sub. If the sub is under one of the seats is it going to pound our rears the entire time?

Oh man, that's tight. I'm not sure you'll have enough depth for much there. You theoretically have enough volume for a pair of 6's, you will be tight on depth. I agree with what the shop told you about the output of the all in one sub solutions. They typically fall within the barely meet minimum of output compared to an actual sub/enclosure option.

Sounds like I might have to get creative with what little space I have above the wheel well, under the top of Slipstream. I just want to have my cake and enjoy eating it...

Getting creative may lead to some killer options. I'm not overly familiar with the Slipstream product but I have seen some killer alternative options when it comes to sub boxes. I would look into mounting an enclosure on the cage.

Do you have space at the gate ? There are gate sub enclosures if you have some. And I’m sure you know this. But if all else fails upgrade the overhead speakers to 3 way 6 x 9’s. Upgrade the lower dash/ knee area’s. And the top dash speakers.

Not sure how much room I have there but I am looking into it. Both local shops I hit are supposed to get me a quote but non of them have gotten back with me. I might have to do this thing myself. Been a while since I did audio installs.

i came here from the other post to see what your options are, i have a stinger and new speakers all the way around plus i put 6x9's in the tube over head with the hideaway you seen. the hardest part is just finding where to hide it, every thing else is easy. let me know if you have questions

Which other post are you looking at? I would love to see the "tube overhead". I still do not know what I am going to do yet. A local shop quoted me $4000 for a Stinger head with everything swapped, amp, etc except he did not quote anything for the sub since he doesn't yet know what to do with that. That's a lot of cheddar I would like to keep but afraid doing it myself will run into problems over my head. I am 50 and it's been since I was 24 since I've pulled a head unit or done any audio stuff.
