I have never used the straps for sun rider position. I bought a roll of Velcro at Walmart and cut some longer strips to help when it is in the down position.

I bought a used '18 JLU that, naturally, didn't have the straps. Found a set of 3 water hose retention Velcro straps ( 24" long) that does the job. Cost $3.97 at Home Depot.

I know it's been a while, but do you have a link?
