Not sure this is "unique" but I spent years trying to find options for handing my JK doors. Now that the doors are much lighter, I found very simple fixes.

With a 2x4, a pool noodle, some zip ties, and 2 ladder hangers (roughly $20) - I have a solution. Thought I would share.

I can walk it through, but frankly - not much engineering to it. The lighter doors make it so much easier to hang and store. Thank you designers!

I once had a large mirror that I leaned against a wall in a room where solid wood flooring had just been put down. I was concerned with it slipping or denting the new floor, so I put some rubber pads underneath it. I went off to work on some other stuff figuring that it would be safe there and I could mount the mirror later. A few hours later, I heard a massive crash and got to savor the experience of picking of tons of little pieces of glass from all over that room. Luckily, I had not put any furniture in the room yet. A small dab of oil based stain and the nick in the wood was not noticeable. :)

So, if I was removing those doors and putting them in my garage, I would not just attach them at the bottom. I might put a tray attached to the wall for the bottom of the doors, but I would also have some sort of padded hook mechanism for the top of the doors. Also, I would mount the doors up high instead of having them sitting close to the ground since around my garage, anything close to the ground is going to get bumped into by something else, somewhere along the way. :(

I will agree. I just spent the afternoon doing this and I already wish I would’ve put them 2 feet higher. But then again, I understand putting them on the ground, I’m waiting to hear a smash in the garage

If I'm concerned about bumping up against stuff in my garage, I tend to put it up above waist height since the offending object that bumps into stuff is usually either being rolled or carried. If I put things at floor height, I will end up either bumping into them when I'm rolling stuff around the garage or even kick them when I'm walking around. I would really like to have a larger garage, but unfortunately, I live in a HOA Nazi community where they insist that every house looks exactly like it was when the builder built it. It doesn't matter if there is another house in the community that has a feature like you are wanting to add. If the builder didn't put it on your house, your chances of getting that added at a later date is pretty low. My builder could have put a 6-car garage on my lot due to the size of the lot and if he had done it, it would have been perfectly fine. But he didn't and even getting approval for expansion from a 2-car to a 3-car garage is impossible and if I was going to go to that much trouble, I would go for a 4-car garage. But, it's close to my wife's siblings and in an area with good schools which is what she wanted, so I'm stuck with it.

DEATH TO ALL HOA NAZIS !!!
