[After seeing and purchasing an amazing Keyfob holster from a forum sponsor Mark Gibson of Gibson Leatherworks (@Blkjak), it inspired me to attempt to do a project with leather. A leatherwork project has been on my bucket list for over 30 years –yup, I’m old. I have just not been able to “get around” to doing something until Mark and his holster rekindled the desire.

So what would be a better project for a novice than something practical, useful (at least for me) and of-course for my JLUR than a gun holster. Yeah – It is a bit much for a first-time leather project but heck, that has never held me back! I’m pretty sure most of us in this forum are “cut from the same thread”.

Anyhow the following are some pictures of my journey. But, before anyone asks if I could make them one, I would have to recommend Gibson Leatherworks @Blkjak or some other leatherwork professional since if I would use my day-job labor rate times the number of hours it took me we would be talking $2,200+ material !! ….. I think Mark could do MUCH better in cost and quality.

Looks good, and the red thread is a nice touch. How is it mounted?
I used a couple 1/4x20 thumbscrews and 1/4x20 Jack-Nuts into the lower part of the console plastic being careful not to interrupt/disturb/touch any of the t-case shifter mechanism.

Looks good. I've done several in kydex. Bought a bunch of leather stuff, just haven't gotten around to it.

Dig the Sig, nice work. I'm having gun pockets added to my Wet Okole seat covers. If I don't like that, you gave me a good idea.

Looks awesome. Love the red thread. Reminds me of my 4wd shifter in my TJ. Great Job.

That sounds like me. I bought a bunch of leather craft tools but that was 30 years ago and never got around to it. Don't wait like I did. I found a very deep visceral enjoyment from it.

Bob, I just ran across this thread. Thank you for the kind words and glad to hear that you got bitten by the leather bug. If this is your first holster, you did one hell of a job and you will just keep getting better as you do more and more. If you ever need any help or advice on a project, feel free to reach out to me anytime. Great idea and execution

Mark, what would it cost to make me one of these for a Glock 23. Love the look.

Hello Christopher, thanks for you inquiry. One thing that most leather workers don't do is use someone else's idea or patterns without consent and I am one of those. So before going forward, I would look for Bob's thumbs up. While I wouldn't do everything the Bob did in the same manner, to me the concept is his first.
