MOPAR also makes aftermarket slider/steps. Someone else can veto/chime in on me, but from climbing with my younger son on a lot of JKs last fall, it seemed like my limit for bumping them when stepping in while still be useful for him was the Recon. It seemed quite similar in dimension to the MOPAR (link below). That seems to be about a 4" tread which protrudes about 5" from the body. Just rough dimensions. Your use/aesthetic may vary. I hit the Sahara one easily and probably some of the tube variants.

EDIT: IMO, car doors can still hit your jeep depending on the vehicle. Ex: rear doors often cut out over/following the rear wheel. It should limit a bit, but someone can still be a jerk if they want.

I got mine in the mail and their is a slight chip in the powder coating on the curved end? Is that a big deal> Should I be concerned about rust? I can take them back to 4 Wheel Parts and swap them out.

I've installed 3 sets in the past two years and everyone of them had a chip or two on the end. Packaging could be better. Find a gloss black paint that matches and touch it up. You won't see it on the end. One set I paid $200 to have a set sprayed with line-x bedliner and a clear coat put on to protect against uv rays. Line-x is almost indestructable and the clear over the top makes them glossy.

I just realized they have two kinds. I thought Mopar was factory but I guess not. Now I'm not sure what one I like more. Mopar ones are already being shipped to me.

I like the way the Sahara one flows with the genders but now I think I’m liking the top one better. Anyone order those yet?

That's exactly why I bought them lol...for that reason alone. I can't find any pics with a JL and the tube ones. I hope I made the right decision

When are you supposed to get the tube ones in? Can’t wait to see it installed. I’m leaning this way also.

Sir - I like your setup very much. Beautiful Jeep. Yours is a Sport U, I assume? Same as mine... I might have to go with the same steps. I like.

Question though - I noticed that the plastic cover between the front fender flare and the front bumper are missing from yours - which is a good thing. That's the Rubicon look, which I like. Did you remove that plastic piece? and was it easy?

THANK YOU very much. I responded to this thread too. I am just worried about the exposed light/wires, and also looks ghetto with everything exposed (like it's missing a piece). On the other hand, I hate that black plastic piece. Ugh, trade-offs.

I am of the same opinion. If you are not planning on a steel bumper replacement I would be looking for a Sahara or Rubicon owner that is replacing their stock plastic bumper. I bet you could snag one real cheap. That to me would be the only option as you said it looks ghetto with everything exposed like that.

If you're willing to wait, or want to upgrade later, I'm sure all the manufacturers will have some nice step/sliders available. The JL is not that far of a leap from the JK and wont take long to modify the JK versions for JL use.

Just cut down the stock covers. EZ cheap fix
