MOPAR also makes aftermarket slider/steps. Someone else can veto/chime in on me, but from climbing with my younger son on a lot of JKs last fall, it seemed like my limit for bumping them when stepping in while still be useful for him was the Recon. It seemed quite similar in dimension to the MOPAR (link below). That seems to be about a 4" tread which protrudes about 5" from the body. Just rough dimensions. Your use/aesthetic may vary. I hit the Sahara one easily and probably some of the tube variants.

EDIT: IMO, car doors can still hit your jeep depending on the vehicle. Ex: rear doors often cut out over/following the rear wheel. It should limit a bit, but someone can still be a jerk if they want.
