Hi,
I know this is a JL forum, but wanted to post here and see if anyone else has seen similar issues - and if so how they fixed them?
On my 2016 JKUR with about 35k miles, we are having a weird / non repeatable issue with the transmission and(or) transfer case. Every once in a while, when we are trying to shift from D to R the transmission just gets "confused" and stops working altogether. The best analogy i can offer here is that if you have ever been in 4h or 4l and had the transfer case pop out into N or in no mans land - this is a lot like that (except this is issue only occurs in 2wd on the street).
Issue description -
When trying to park the jeep after running errands around town, we almost always back into spots. We will be in 2wd and in D pull forward to line up to park, then shift in R to back in. The rig just stops moving at that point and acts like it is in N, not R. Sometimes the engine will die when this occurs, sometimes it will not - this even less repeatable than the core issue of no ability to move forward or backwards. We then try to move back into D or P to get the system to re-engage, which works about 1/2 of the time. The other thing we will do is to go into P, then turn motor off and back on - which works about 1/2 of the time as well.
I have had the rig into dealership for transmission fluid change already, but not had them tear into the unit and visually inspect yet - that is likely next.
Any other suggestions on where to look here?
TIA
D
